Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, announces the recipients of the second round of the 2019 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $583,000, allow 15 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

Due to popular demand, The Old Globe announced today a one-week-only extensiona?"through Sunday, October 27a?"of Almost Famous, a world-premiere musical

Lincoln Center Theater, under the direction of André Bishop, has announced it will produce a new musical during its 2019-2020 season. FLYING OVER SUNSET, with a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie, will feature choreography by Michelle Dorrance, and will begin previews March 12, 2020 and open on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton and Tony Yazbeck will head the cast with additional casting to be announced at a later date.

NEXT TO NORMAL, the award-winning rock musical about a suburban family dealing with mental health illness, will be performed at the USMAR ISMAIL THEATRE HALL, Jakarta on Tuesday, August 20th 2019. This musical is produced by JAKARTA YOUTH FOR PERFORMING ARTS (JYPA) and officially licensed through Music Theatre International (MTI). JYPA is also collaborating with mental health and suicide prevention community INTO THE LIGHT.

Sometimes being brave means being yourself! This fall Goodspeed Musicals' production of Billy Elliot The Musical will spark with infectious energy. This tour-de-force of dance based on the British movie of the same name, will run September 13 a?' November 24 at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn. The Next Chapter Actors will present Next to Normal at Fox Cities Performing Arts Center Aug. 8-10.

Producers Lia Vollack, Joey Parnes, Sue Wagner, and John Johnson today announced the cast and creative team for Almost Famous, a world premiere musical with book and lyrics by Academy Award winner Cameron Crowe, based on his iconic film. Almost Famous, which will open the 2019-2020 Season at The Old Globe (Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and Managing Director Timothy J. Shields), is directed by Tony Award® nominee Jeremy Herrin and features original music and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award winner Tom Kitt. Performances will run September 13 a?' October 20, with an official opening night on September 27.

Cue Zero Theatre Company closes their first full season with the Tony Award winning musical, Next To Normal, presented at the Hatbox Theatre in Concord, NH. The production opens August 16th and runs through August 25th. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, Sundays at 2:00 PM. Holmdel Theatre Company (HTC) brings the groundbreaking and provocative rock musical Next to Normal to Holmdel from July 19 through August 4, 2019. With a phenomenal book by Brian Yorkey and powerful score by Tom Kitt, this moving piece is the winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score, and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Normal Ave is proud to announce its 2019-20 season. The season will kick off October 3, 2019 with the world premiere of Of the woman came the beginning of sin and through her we all die by Lily Houghton, directed by Kylie M. Brown. Following will be another world premiere: Indoor Person by Kayla Martine, directed by Andrew Garrett, which begins performances February 19, 2020. The season will finish with The Book of Grace by Suzan-Lori Parks, directed by Shariffa Ali, which returns to New York for the first time since the 2010 run at The Public. The Parks revival begins performances April 23, 2020. Casts and creative teams will be announced at a later date.

McCarter will welcome a group of esteemed and emerging playwrights and theater artists to Princeton for the Sallie B. Goodman Artists' Retreat. The annual retreat in June is a centerpiece of McCarter's LAB, a platform and creative incubator devoted to ongoing theatrical development and artist cultivation. The 2019 Retreat will take place from June 12 - June 19.

This summer Goodspeed Musicals will produce the heartwarming new musical Because of Winn Dixie. This touching tale based on the award-winning novel by Kate DiCamillo will run June 28 - September 1 at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn.
