The show is in itself show-stopping. The cast of accomplished triple-threats swaps tense competition for a jubilant celebration of form. In a post-pandemic industry that’s suffered cuts to the arts across all areas, it’s disheartening to see an artist’s quality of life hasn’t exactly progressed much. What did our critic think of TRAVESTIES at ICT Rep At The Welsbacher Theatre At The WSU Metroplex On Oliver & 29th? I had the unique pleasure of attending ICT Rep’s production of Tom Stoppard’s Travesties on its final performance. The comedy ran for one week, July 18-21st, at the Welsbacher Theatre in the WSU Metroplex building on Oliver & 29th. It was a delightful way to wile away a hot July Sunday afternoon. It brought back pleasant memories of youthful Sunday afternoons spent in the Court House Theatre at the Shaw Festival on Niagara-On-The-Lake. Scripts like Travesties are not de rigueur here in Wichita. Wichita Community Theatre presented Stoppard’s most well known play, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead quite a few years back.

Originally released on the heels of her hit debut album, Boots, and her sophomore follow-up How Does That Grab You?, the album was cut in three days at Pye Studios. By going directly to the source and choosing songs like “On Broadway,” “Wishin’ and Hopin’,” and “This Little Bird,” the album has an unequivocally British feel. The album also includes Nancy and Lee Hazlewood’s timeless duet “Summer Wine.”

Following his “consistently impressive” (Gramophone) traversal of Mozart's complete Piano Sonatas for Sony Classical - winner of an Opus Klassik Award - Japanese pianist Mao Fujita will present a similarly ambitious project: matching sets of 24 Preludes by three composers, Frédéric Chopin, Alexander Scriabin and Akio Yashiro.
