Jon Culshaw will star as 'Bill Bryson' in a brand-new stage production of Bryson's award-winning memoir NOTES FROM A SMALL ISLAND adapted by BAFTA and Olivier Award winning playwright Tim Whitnall. Directed by the Watermill's Artistic Director Paul Hart, the production will have its world premiere in Newbury on Thursday 24 September and play until Saturday 31 October, with a national press night on Monday 28 September. The production will then tour to Malvern, Cambridge, and Richmond, with further dates to announced.

Three centuries of Italy's rich cultural heritage are on full display with Carlo Colla & Sons Marionette Company (The Pied Piper, New Victory 2016; Sleeping Beauty, New Victory 2013) and their rendition of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic pirate tale, Treasure Island. Set sail as 12 puppeteers animate exquisitely handcrafted marionettes to tell the swashbuckling adventures of cabin boy Jim Hawkins. The famed troupe from Milan puts 19th-century artistry center stage in this visually stunning production. The world premiere of the English translation of Treasure Island plays at the New Victory Theater from March 20 - 29, 2020.

2020 marks the Shakespeare Schools Festival South Africa's 10th anniversary, a remarkable milestone. From March 3 to 14, the first round of the annual festival in the Western Cape will be taking place at the Fugard Theatre, one of the Mother City's most iconic theatre venues that will also be celebrating its first decade this year, and this prestigious association is an invaluable one for the SSFSA. For the first time since the festivals inception in 2010, the initial performance showcase will be longest yet, taking place over eleven days straight with 34 schools participating from Cape Town and surrounds, including suburbs like Khayelitsha, Mitchells Plain, Westlake, Delft, Bishop Lavis, Pinelands, Athlone, Claremont, Zonnebloom, Wynberg, Swartland, Hermanus, Strand, Hout Bay, Stellenbosch and Worcester. Other cities the festival will tour to up until September 2020 include Johannesburg, Durban, George and Makhanda.
