Philadelphia Premiere Of CREDO Leads Into CARMINA BURANA At The Academy Next Month

Opera Philadelphia returns to the Academy of Music stage Feb. 3 and 5, 2023, gathering nearly 200 performers from the company's Chorus and Orchestra for a concert of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and Margaret Bonds' Credo, pairing one of classical music's most recognizable choral works with a rarely performed masterpiece. The concert marks both the Philadelphia premiere of Credo and the company debut of a rising star, conductor Lina González-Granados.

The Museum of Russian Icons presents a 'Day of Ballet,' featuring tours of  the exhibition Swan Lake: 145 Years of History and Triumph, ballet demonstrations, family activities and a dance workshop, on Saturday, January 14, from 12-2pm.  On Saturday, January 28, the Museum presents a Birch Tea Lecture and Ceremony, held in conjunction with the exhibition Tree of Life: Birch Through the Ages.

Diablo Ballet Presents SWAN LAKE, February 10-11

Diablo Ballet's 29 th season continues with a mixed bill titled Swan Lake Suite, featuring selections from the classic ballet staged by Sean Kelly performed to Pyotr Tchaikovsky's majestic score. Diablo Ballet's Suite includes the White Swan Pas de deux, Black Swan Pas de deux, First Act Pas de trois, czardas, variations and grande finale. Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1895, this classic ballet will be staged for the full company.
