 Opera Philadelphia will celebrate its 50th anniversary in the 2024-2025 Season, which will begin with Festival O24. Majestic Repertory Theatre and Vegas Theatre Company, both situated in the Arts District, are joining forces to produce the American classic Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edward Lee.

Bernard Pomerance’s The Elephant Man, premiered at the Hampstead Theatre in London in November of 1977. Pomerance’s play also transferred to the National Theatre in London for an “In Rep” residency. From January to March of 1979 it played off-Broadway, and made a transfer to the Booth Theatre on Broadway later in 1979, but the production closed in 1981 after 916 regular performances. The Elephant Man received revivals in 2002 and 2014.

Shakespeare Theatre Company will present a new work this season from multi-Tony nominated Moisés Kaufman, Amanda Gronich, and Tectonic Theatre Project (The Laramie Project, I Am My Own Wife): Here There Are Blueberries.  

Yale Repertory Theatre will start the second half of its 2022–23 season with Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles by Luis Alfaro, directed by Laurie Woolery, March 10–April 1 at the University Theatre.

Continuing its 40th Anniversary Celebration, The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW) has announced that Petrona de la Cruz of Chiapas, Mexico has been chosen to receive the 2023  Gilder/Coigney International Theatre Award (GCITA).
