Award-winning SF contemporary chamber group Ensemble for These Times has announced the winners of its 2024 Call for Scores for Solo Piano. The works chosen will be performed by E4TT emerita pianist extraordinaire, Dale Tsang on a solo recital in the group's 17th Home Season, the second such solo piano Call for Scores.

Chicago will continue to produce some of the most exciting work in the country this Fall. Offerings from the city’s more than 250 producing theatres include a wide variety of plays and musicals, as well as comedy, dance, festivals, and more.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Norma Molitch Deull has died at age 90. Deull was a pioneering leader in bringing Broadway shows and other touring live entertainment productions to cities and towns around North America.

The 2022 Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical, BACK TO THE FUTURE: The Musical will come to Seattle as part of the 2024-25 Broadway Season. The Broadway and West End hit show based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film will play The Paramount Theatre from December 10 – 22, 2024.

= BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE MUSICAL is a fun and faithful adaptation of the 1985 film — but it’s overly long and generically scored. With music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard (Silvestri composed the film’s original score) and book by Bob Gale, the musical has a typical pop Broadway score — with some 1950s flare when protagonist Marty McFly travels back in time to 1955.

Never-before-heard alternate takes for the songs on Judy Garland’s well-loved 1956 Capitol album entitled “Judy' are set to be released. These recordings were recently discovered by award-winning designer and collector Raphael Geroni on a unique set of acetate discs that he owns, preserving the original recordings made in late March, 1956.
