The Verdi Chorus 35th anniversary season culminates with its Fall 2018 concert Passione! Opera! for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on November 10 and 11 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, this program, which marks the end of a landmark year for the company, will feature selections from three Verdi operas - Aida, Don Carlo, and the famed chorus "Va, pensiero," from Nabucco, as well as operatic sequences from Boito's Mefistofele, Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, Catalani's La Wally and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann.

The McCallum Theatre presents Celtic Thunder on Friday, November 16, at 8:00pm. The Celtic Thunder X tour is the show's 12th tour of the U.S. and Canada since Celtic Thunder's debut in 2008. The airing of their first Public Television special came that same year and Celtic Thunder has consistently remained one of the most popular musical shows for PBS stations throughout the United States.

Today's subject Rachel Zampelli has been living quite the theater life over the years. You most likely have seen her around town in productions that range from classics and modern plays to musicals. She can currently be seen at Signature Theatre in the two-character play Heisenberg playing opposite Michael Russotto. The production runs through November 11th in Signature's Ark space.

The Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Play House MFA Acting Program is proud to begin their season with a modern reimagining of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull. Chekhov's classic play about artistic rebellion, translated by Paul Schmidt, will star the MFA Class of 2020 and guests. Director Sarah Wansley's staging will shed light on the show's poetic realism. Press opening will be on October 9th at the Helen Theatre in Playhouse Square and the show will run from October 10th-October 20th.

Six of Broadway's most sought-after stars will join Mark Cortale's "Broadway @ The Art House" and "Broadway @ Town Hall" concert series in Provincetown in August.

Four wildly talented actor-musicians deliver a toe-tapping, hand-clapping, sing-along summer experience for all generations in Woody Sez: The Life & Music of Woody Guthrie, back by popular demand at People's Light. Folk revolutionary Guthrie showed you can strum a revolution with joy. Current troubadour David M. Lutken and friends celebrate the fascinating, beautiful, and sometimes tragic life of the legend who inspired Dylan, Springsteen, DiFranco, and an entire songwriting tradition. Featuring 15 instruments, 25 songs, and comprised almost entirely of Guthrie's own words, Woody Sez runs August 1-26 on the Leonard C. Haas Stage in Malvern.

Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the first ever summer intern production, OBAMA-OLOGY by Aurin Squire, directed by Bay Street's Directing/Producing intern Shea King and starring Bay Street Theater's 2018 Acting Apprentices. This production will run as the first show ever directed, produced, designed, and acted entirely by the summer intern company at Bay Street Theater. Performances run from August 9 - 11, 2018, with twilight performances at 4 pm.  Tickets are $12 or $10 for students (available at the Box Office only, with student ID.)

North Texas Performing Arts celebrates the 11th anniversary of their Professional Daytime Children's Series with a production of 'Madagascar-A Musical Adventure - TYA.' The Daytime Children's Series is a series of productions with professional actors performing educational literacy-based shows for pre-school and elementary-aged children during the day.

5-STAR THEATRICALS (formerly Cabrillo Music Theatre) continues its 2017-2018 season with the Thousand Oaks premiere of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Peter Parnell (based on the Victor Hugo Novel and songs from the Disney film), musical direction by Dan Redfeld, choreography by Michelle Elkin and directed by Misti B. Wills. THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME opens on Friday, April 20, 2017 and runs through Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.  

Broadway comes to Ridgefield! Broadway's hottest talents will sing completely new arrangements of the hits of the Stevie Wonder, accompanied by a 7-piece jazz band playing original orchestrations of his music in Broadway Sings Stevie Wonder at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Monday, May 14 at 7pm, part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway & Cabaret Series and partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon & Spa

Broadway favorites Ben Fankhauser, Paige Faure, Corey Mach, and Sydney Morton are among the artists headed to the Ridgefield Playhouse on May 14 to sing completely new arrangements of the hits of the Stevie Wonder, accompanied by a 7-piece jazz band playing original orchestrations of his music. The concert will give tribute to this soul icon, putting new twists on his legendary songs including "Superstition", "Sir Duke", For Once In My Life", and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered". The music will be orchestrated and arranged by Joshua Stephen Kartes.

Porchlight Music Theatre announced that Lorenzo Rush Jr has replaced James Earl Jones II in Porchlight Revisits They're Playing Our Song, music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager and book by Neil Simon, with direction and choreography by Christopher Carter and musical direction by Andra Velis Simon. Porchlight Revisits They're Playing our Song is presented for three-nights-only Tuesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 8 at 7:15 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's Merrily We Roll Along (previews begin January 26) at Porchlight's new home, The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. On Monday, February 19, the Theater People podcast welcomes Broadway favorite Adam Kantor back to the podcast. Kantor, currently co-starring as Telephone Guy in the critically acclaimed new musical THE BAND'S VISIT shares stories of how he won the role, working with the creative team on creating the role, and perfecting his character's haunting and beautiful song 'Answer Me.'

Enrollment is now open for spring acting classes at Rubicon Theatre Company for adults and children ages 5 and older. Classes will be taught by Rubicon Associate Artistic Director Brian McDonald, an award-winning professional actor and director and graduate of Boston Conservatory, whose credits include national tours and work with prestigious regional theatre companies including Denver Center Theatre for the Performing Arts, McCoy-Rigby at La Mirada, Musical Theatre Guild at Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center, and Rubicon.
