Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, is delighted to announce its OTR New Works lineup for 2020. We will be presenting two staged readings from past and president Resident Playwrights, as well as a LAB Workshop production, and our first commissioned play, which is being written by our first Resident Playwright, Adam Szymkowicz. With the opening weekend performances of Fuddy Meers concluding this past weekend, the Black Box Performing Arts Center will continue to produce David Lindsay-Abaire's award winning play through November 17th.

TOTE ensemble members Marco DiGeorge, Adam Minossora, and Elaitheia Quinn will star alongside a large ensemble cast in Eric Bogosian's 2007 adaptation of Talk Radio. Directed by Allan Whitehead, Talk Radio will run from November 16 through December 8, 2019 at Theater On The Edge.

The IAMA Theatre Company will present a staged reading of Peabody Award-winning composer Matthew Puckett's The Evergreen as part of the 2019 New Works Fest. Directed by IAMA Theatre Artistic Director, Stefanie Black, the reading will take place at the Los Angeles Theater Center (514 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA) on Sunday, November 17 at 8 PM. Tickets are free to the public and available on a first come, first served basis.

Knife Edge Productions is pleased to announce their next production, Neil LaBute's In a Dark Dark House. The play runs December 6 - 21 with opening night slated for December 10 at A.R.T/New York Theatres. In a Dark Dark House is directed by the company's Resident Theatre Director, Sam Helfrich.

Over the Rhine, the Cincinnati-based, husband-and-wife team of Karin Bergquist (vocals, acoustic guitar, tenor guitar) and Linford Detweiler (vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboards), has been a prolific, music-making, folk-pop duo for more than two decades. For their 2018 tour, they will perform as a trio, leaning into three-part harmonies and making an intimate and holy ruckus of Christmas music and tunes from their many records along the way.

Manchester-based dance theatre company Company Chameleon open a UK tour of their new show The Shadow, choreographed by co-Artistic Director, Anthony Missen, at HOME Manchester on Fri 22/Sat 23 November 2019.

“I think early on as a band, we were trying to be one thing - a punk and ska band,” says Glenn Stewart, drummer for Clearwater, FL's punk band VICTIMS OF CIRCUMSTANCE (VOC). “When it came time to write the fifth album, we didn't want to do that. There wasn't any specific direction.  In the end, we all feel like we've achieved a bigger, more mature sound that still has that great VOC flavor.”

IAMA Theatre Company has revealed the mystery title of the new musical promised in the company's 2019-20 season announcement: Tony-nominated director Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Broadway's Hand to God, Present Laughter, Bernhardt/Hamlet; off-Broadway's Teenage Dick) will direct the West Coast premiere of Found: A New Musical Comedy, with a book by Hunter Bell and Lee Overtree and music and original lyrics by Eli Bolin.

Natalie Wilson, Artistic Director and Joint-CEO of Theatre Centre, the UK's foremost producer and champion of theatre for young audiences, is to step down at the end of the year following 12 years with the company. Theatre Centre has thrived under Natalie's leadership through a time of seismic change in the education landscape. Recruitment is underway for an interim Artistic Director.

WFUV, New York (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) It's Bruce Springsteen's 70th birthday on Monday, September 23, and 90.7 WFUV in New York is celebrating this local hero in a significant and heartfelt way.   That evening, from 9-10 p.m. EDT, WFUV will premiere its original program, The Bruce Project, a one-hour special of live covers of Springsteen's songs by artists who consider him an influence and inspiration. The starry lineup of performers includes The Head and the Heart, the Amy Ray Band, The Hold Steady's Craig Finn, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Robert Randolph & the Family Band. All performances were recorded at FUV's Studio A at Fordham University in the Bronx.  

Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present Alternative Facts, an interactive public performance by Paul Ramírez Jonas that explores the concept that truth is a social contract. Over the course of two days in two different parts of the city, the artist will engage individual members of the public in a series of actions that call into question commonly understood ideas about facts, authority, exchange, value, and trust. Alternative Facts will take place on Friday, October 18, from 11:00AMa?"2:00 PM at Kyriakides Plaza in MDC's Wolfson Campus, and on Sunday, October 20, from 11:00 AMa?"2:00 PM at HARTVEST PROJECT at Pinecrest Gardens in Pinecrest. The events are free and open to the public.

3,042 young adults died tragically in 2007 alone from gunfire in the United States according to Children's Defense, a non-profit dedicated to building safer communities with a small yet mighty focus on the crisis of gun violence in America. If that statistic alone doesn't scare you, maybe this will: in a recent 2019 article from the Associated Press, it states here in Wichita, violent crime rates are now twice the national average with gun shootings doubling in the past five years since 2014. The Wichita Police Department recognize shootings have become problematic and are now participating in initiatives such as citizen patrol to help out the understaffed branch keep crime low and accountability high. Bearing this in mind, Wichita Community Theatre opens their 2019-2020 season with the musical Blood Brothers, a show filled with a variety of themes but particularly gun violence being the most shocking and prevalent topic presented. The production runs at 258 N. Fountain from September 4-15, Wednesday through Saturday and is sponsored by KMUW Wichita 89.1.
