Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with the Boston area premiere of Richard Strand's Ben Butler from August 2 through August 25 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Richard Strand's Ben Butler, a smart and funny discourse on race, protocol and our sense of humanity garnered high critical acclaim during its Off Broadway run in 2016. New York's Joseph Discher who helmed the show's world premiere production in 2014 and the Off Broadway production in 2016, makes his GSC debut directing Ben Butler. Actors Ames Adamson as General Benjamin Butler and Shane Taylor as escaped slave Shepard Mallory make their GSC debut in Ben Butler. GSC veterans Doug Bowen-Flynn as Lieutenant Kelly and David DeBeck as Confederate Major Cary complete the cast. Richard Strand's Ben Butler, runs from August 2 through August 25. L.A.'s critically acclaimed BODYTRAFFIC returns to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts as the 2019/2020 Company-In-Residence, launching its highly anticipated residency with a three-night run featuring the world premiere of L.A.-based choreographer Michaela Taylor's Snap, inspired by James Brown, the "Godfather of Soul," on Thursday, on September 26, through Saturday, September 28, 2019, 7:30 pm, in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. The contemporary dance company also presents the West Coast Premiere of Resolve by the L.A.-based choreographic duo Wewolf, comprised of b-boy influencer Rubberlegz and dancemaker James Gregg, which brings heart-pumping electronic dance music to life through an intricate and unique movement style; a reprise performance Matthew Neenan's A Million Voices which had its World Premiere at the company's Wallis debut in 2018; and the U.S. Premiere of psycho-dance-drama (d)elusive minds by Nederlands Dans Theater 2 Artistic Director Fernando Hernando Magadan. The program reflects BODYTRAFFIC's commitment to presenting master works by international choreographic superstars as well as repertoire that represents the strength of the Los Angeles dance scene through works by established and rising local choreographers. AXIS Dance Company is thrilled to announce its first international commission under the direction of Artistic Director Marc Brew as the headliner of its 2019 Home Season, In·ter·twine: Alice in Californiland from renowned choreographer Arthur Pita. The inspiration is "the theme of homelessness mashed up with the story of Alice in Wonderland, where we will try to delicately find our way into both those portholes with these characters," says Pita. "What we are attempting here is difficult, yes, but that is the job of art, and we want it be hard-hitting, moving, humorous, entertaining and poignant."

GRAMMY-nominated vocal quartet New York Polyphony today announces the release of its latest album Peñalosa - Lamentationes, outFriday, September 6, 2019 on BIS Records (BIS-2407 SACD). The album features rarely heard works from late 15th-century and early 16th-century Spanish composers Francisco de Penalosa, Pedro de Escobar, and Francisco Guerrero, including world premiere recordings of Peñalosa's Lamentations and movements of his Missa L'homme arme.

The Tank will present their third annual Lady Fest, featuring new work by some of the most exciting lady-identified artists out there, in celebration of womxnhood and the female voice, in all its glory.

“The concept behind the album, in essence, is about how we develop multidimensional selves, a series of personas if you will, that enable us to navigate in a multidimensional universe and how we learn to move between them very fluidly,” explains internationally beloved singer-songwriterproducer Azam Ali about her new album Phantoms (Terrestrial Lane Productions; release date September 13, 2019).  “Over time, these personas become like ghosts that live within us… like phantoms.”

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," has announced casting for its 29th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, which opens with the return of the wild, comic rock musical CRY-BABY,  based on the iconic John Waters film, a show which New Line first produced in 2012 in its American regional premiere, running Sept. 26-Oct. 19, 2019. The season continues with the electrifying new rock musical fresh from Broadway, in its regional premiere, HEAD OVER HEELS, a high-energy, adult romp about gender and sexuality, based on a 16th-century novel and using the songs of the 80s rock band The Go-Go's, running March 5-28, 2020. And the season closes with the return of one of New Line's biggest hits, which the New Liners first presented in 2007, the pitch dark satire URINETOWN, the hilarious, outrageous fable of greed, corruption, love, revolution, and urination, running June 4-27, 2020.

Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Norbert Leo Butz, Dale Dickey, Eddie Marsan, Bailey Noble and Katheryn Winnick have joined the cast of Flag Day, directed by Sean Penn and starring his children Dylan and Hopper, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Celebrating its 37th anniversary, Outfest - the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization promoting equality by creating, sharing, and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen - today announced the complete programming lineup for the 2019 Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival, presented by HBO. The nation's leading LGBTQ festival will be held July 18-28, 2019.

Judith Light, Gethin Anthony and Jay O. Sanders are set to star alongside Jack Huston, Cameron Britton and Carla Gugino in Season 2 of Spectrum Originals and Lionsgate's anthology series MANHUNT: LONE WOLF. Headshots are attached.

Jez Butterworth has won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Play for THE FERRYMAN.

Following three sold-out New York engagements, the Vakhtangov State Academic Theatre of Russia returns with a new verse drama Masquerade, directed by Rimas Tuminas (Eugene Onegin).
