NYRR and Achilles International hosted the 17th annual Achilles Hope and Possibility 4M by TD Bank, a four-mile race that had nearly 6,000 participants! Achilles International was established in 1983 with a mission to empower people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events in order to promote personal achievement. The race brings together athletes with disabilities and able-bodied athletes in a celebration of running. It is one of the world's largest road races supporting people with disabilities.

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. In an all new program, Pacific Symphony is joined by country music icon Lee Greenwood in a concert dedicated to honoring those who have served. Gather together for an evening of music, celebration and remembrance, to salute those who defended America's ideals and remember those who never returned. Theatre at St. John's, in association with Yorick Theater Company, presents the first ever revival of Charles Ludlam's GALAS, starring and directed by Everett Quinton in celebration of Stonewall 50 and World Pride. GALAS opens on Sunday, June 16th and will play a limited engagement through June 28th at the Theatre at St. John's (81 Christopher Street), a stone's throw from Stonewall and the play's original home, Ridiculous Theatrical Company. Music at Kohl Mansion has announced the lineup for its 2019-2020 season of chamber concerts in Burlingame's historic Kohl Mansion, opening Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 7 pm. The series will mark its 37th year with eight concerts, along with the groundbreaking Violins of Hope residency January-March 2020. Music at Kohl Mansion welcomes the American Chamber Players, the Minetti Quartett, musicians from the Valley of the Moon Music Festival, the Ariel Quartet, cellist Amit Peled, the Fauré Quartett, and the Heath Quartet. The centerpiece of Music at Kohl Mansion's Violins of Hope San Francisco Bay Area project will be the January 19, 2020 concert featuring the world premiere of a new work written specifically for the Violins of Hope by internationally renowned composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer, featuring celebrated mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and violinist Daniel Hope with a string quartet of musicians from the San Francisco Opera Orchestra.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary edition of King of California, out June 28 on Craft Recordings, acclaimed Los Angeles-based artist Dave Alvin will embark on a 22-date U.S. tour beginning June 11, with an intimate conversation and performance at GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles. Dave will share the stage with special guest and King of California producer Greg Liesz on nine dates, seven of which are already sold out, two new dates have been added in the Northwest. Late one night in 1984, drag queen Lady Bunny and a few friends drunkenly wandered from the Pyramid Club in New York's East Village to Tompkins Square Park, staging an impromptu drag show in the band shell. This annual drag bacchanal, which would become known as Wigstock, signaled the end of summer in glamorous fashion for the gay community in NYC and lasted almost 20 years.

Board President Harold Black of The Bach Choir of Bethlehem announced the planned retirement of both Artistic Director and Conductor Greg Funfgeld and Executive Director Bridget George, taking place over the next two years. Mr. Funfgeld will conduct his final performances with The Choir during the May 2021 Bethlehem Bach Festival and officially retire in June 2021, celebrating 38 seasons as artistic head of the organization. Ms. George will retire in December 2020, after 24 years with The Choir.
