Based on the 1990 cult-classic John Waters (Hairspray) film, CRY-BABY The Musical will be presented in the Opera House's Drama Theatre from 22 July – 15 August, 2021. Highly subversive and proudly irreverent, CRY-BABY The Musical, which won four 2018 Sydney Theatre Awards during its season at the Hayes Theatre Co, is a tongue-in-cheek homage to the teen rebel genre.

Exciting content is set to debut on Audible in May. Scripted titles include the original comedy podcast A Total Switch Show, starring real-life mother and daughter Lea Thompson and Zoey Deutch, plus more!

The impact on American theatre of N. Richard Nash's THE RAINMAKER, a mid-century, self-described Romantic Comedy, is primarily found in its formidable presence (exceeded only by OUR TOWN) in any and all monologue and scene-study books. The leads, 'Lizzie' and 'Starbuck', are ever present at auditions, duo-acting tournaments, and Intro to Acting courses in high schools and colleges coast-to-coast. Despite it's not uncommon presence in local theatre, I'd never seen the full play before attending Hale Centre Theatre's current production. The play is culturally dated most certainly but made enjoyable by some strong performances and deft staging by director Tim Dietlein.

The Utah Symphony continues performances from its digital stage, this time led by Brazilian-born conductor Marcelo Lehninger, Music Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony since 2016. They are joined by audience-favorite guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas, who performs Joaquín Rodrigo's “Fantasía para un gentilhombre” as well as three surprise encores.

Symphony Space will present a special conversation between Tony Award-winning director, playwright, and producer George C. Wolfe and Tony Award-winning stage, film, and television actor John Benjamin Hickey, on Wednesday, April 28, at 7pm EST.

Guild Hall has announced the artists and events for its landmark 90th season which begins at the end of May and will feature author Salman Rushdie, American Ballet Theatre, Emmy-winners Susan Lucci & Joy Behar, 5-time Tony-winner Susan Stroman, Oscar & Tony-winner Mercedes Ruehl, and more.

To celebrate spring and provide hope against the coming of the tax man, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) invites the greater Princeton community and internet followers to a free, online video premiere of the orchestra's outdoor performance of Aaron Copland's solemn and heroic Fanfare for the Common Man on Wednesday, April 7 at 5pm EST.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!
