Westport Country Playhouse is staging the comic satire, “Straight White Men,” by Young Jean Lee, from now through June 5, directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director. The show’s 2018 Broadway run made Lee the first Asian American female playwright to have a work produced there.

Westport Country Playhouse will present “Straight White Men: Dig Deeper,” a series of special events, free-of-charge and open to the community, surrounding the comedy, “Straight White Men,” playing May 24 – June 5. The events will enhance the community's insight on the production and its themes.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has announced the 2022-2023 TRUST Cabaret Series.  Now in its 10th season, the Series continues to offer patrons a rare opportunity to see Broadway’s stars and today’s world-class leading vocalist on stage in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.

The New-York Historical Society will present the 2022 History Makers Award to opera superstar, arts innovator, and civic leader Anthony Roth Costanzo for his achievements in the performing arts and for his activism. The gala will take place on October 6, 2022, at New-York Historical’s Central Park West home. Pam Schafler, chair emerita of New-York Historical’s Board of Trustees, will be honored with the 1804 Founders Medal for Distinguished Service. Renowned historian and Pulitzer prize-winning author Jon Meacham will deliver the keynote address.

Anthony Roth Costanzo is an opera superstar who brings his otherworldly talent to the title role of AKHNATEN at the Met Opera (which opens tonight and runs through June 10). But along with his celebrated gifts as a countertenor and actor, Anthony is being increasingly recognized by major institutions at home and abroad as a preternaturally gifted producer, arts innovator, community builder, civic leader, and negotiator of change.

Darren Lee Cole, producing director of the not-for-profit, SoHo Playhouse has announced the homecoming of the International Fringe Encore Series. This year’s Series marks a return of the world’s best emerging theater to New York City and the SoHo Playhouse, with at least one production chosen from Fringe Festivals throughout North America.

The production reunites Kline and Lamos, who were classmates at Northwestern University. Others in the ensemble are Bill Army, Denver Milord, Nick Westrate, Akiko Akita, and Ashton Muñiz.

The Lesher Center Presents Headliners series will continue with Broadway star Laura Benanti. This evening of song will include Benanti’s brilliant renditions of Broadway tunes, standards, and more.

​​​​​​​Actors Theatre of Indiana invites you to join them as they wrap up their 2021-22 season with Working. From the book by Studs Terkel, adapted by Stephen Schwartz, Working is the examination of 26 people from all walks of life, proving that it's more than just a job for the average working American. 

One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers, and the coat of many colors. Told entirely through song with the help of a main character Narrator, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar's wife. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph's solution to Egypt's famine elevates him to Pharaoh's right-hand man and reunites him with his family.

Barrington Stage Company has announced casting for the first two shows of its 2022 season: the 1978 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Ain’t Misbehavin’: The Fats Waller Musical Show, and the world premiere play, Andy Warhol in Iran by Brent Askari (BSC’s American Underground) which opens the St. Germain Stage from June 2-25.

LuPone recalls her first introduction to the musical Gypsy (playing Louise) in highschool, speaking candidly about not understanding the play at the time, and shares how she was initially banned from participating in any of Arthur Laurents work before going on to win a Tony Award for playing Rose. She reflects on going to the 'dark side' a lot when COVID shut the industry down, noting it wasn't that she couldn't perform but rather that she had nothing to fill that void with, and shares how close-knit and supportive the cast and crew of Company is as a result of the collective trauma and uncertainty they faced together once they resumed rehearsals. LuPone also speaks about the importance of doing her work completely in the rehearsal room, allowing her and the audience to both play and relax once she is onstage, and shares why she looks at the audience every single night.
