A Midsummer Night's Dream Revival

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

Tennessee Shakespeare Company officially launches its tenth anniversary season this week when it brings Romeo and Juliet to the historic outdoor train depot and platform in Collierville Town Square on Saturday, October 7 at 4:00 pm.

Tennessee Shakespeare Company, in partnership with the University of Memphis' Department of Theatre & Dance, presents William Shakespeare's madcap, joyous The Comedy of Errors on the U of M's Theatre Mainstage from June 8-18.

Abrons Arts Center is pleased to present the U.S. premiere of The Seagull and Other Birds by celebrated Irish theater company Pan Pan. The production, running March 23-April 2, is a roller coaster reimagining of Anton Chekhov's much-loved comic masterpiece.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents its popular FREE Film Society Talks series, sponsored by HBO. The returning summer series kicks off today, June 15, with director, writer, and producer Julie Taymor, who will discuss the filmed version of her critically acclaimed stage production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. New York City Ballet will open its 2015 Spring Season on Tuesday, April 28 with three programs of 12 landmark Black & White ballets by George Balanchine: Monumentum pro Gesualdo, Movements for Piano and Orchestra, Concerto Barocco, Episodes, The Four Temperaments, Apollo, Agon, Duo Concertant, Symphony in Three Movements, Square Dance, Le Tombeau de Couperin, and Stravinsky Violin Concerto. The ballets will be performed in 11 performances during the first two weeks.

Although billed as being for kids, there is plenty to keep the adults interested, too, so make it a family day out.

The New School presents its 2015 spring semester public programming in the Performing Arts. Since its founding in 1919, The New School has been a fixture in New York City's performing arts scene, showcasing work in music, drama, and dance by its talented students, visiting scholars, and faculty.

Synetic Theater will close its season with the popular, Helen Hayes Award-winning play A Midsummer Night's Dream. Spearheaded by Director Paata Tsikurishvili, Synetic masterfully brings back to audiences their highly lauded rendition of the classic play, utilizing dance, acrobatics, and mime creating a fun and relatable adaptation to Shakespeare's timeless comedy. The limited four-week remount runs July 15 through August 9, 2015.

April 26, 2014 marks the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth. In honor of this milestone in world culture, Houston Ballet will present dance interpretations of great Shakespearean works by choreographers from three continents: a lavish new production of Romeo and Juliet by Stanton Welch; the company premiere of John Neumeier's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and a revival of John Cranko's The Taming of the Shrew.

Colorado Ballet Artistic Director Gil Boggs announced the 2014-2015 season, which will feature technically-challenging classical ballet and innovative contemporary pieces.
