THE DJANGO, downtown Manhattan’s premier jazz club, will continue to host today’s jazz legends and rising stars. On February 3, The Django celebrates the fifth anniversary of the Brooklyn-based record label, La Reserve, with special performances by the label’s artists.

Jazz at Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club will continue its season of in-person performances in January and February 2022, presenting a diverse lineup that pays tribute to jazz greats, showcases rising stars on the scene, and welcomes award-winning artists whose work runs the gamut of jazz styles and traditions.

Composer Eric Nathan will release the world premiere recording of Missing Words (2014-2021) on January 21, 2022 on New Focus Recordings. Performed by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, American Brass Quintet, cellist Parry Karp and pianist Christopher Karp, International Contemporary Ensemble, Neave Trio, and Hub New Music.

Historical themes have always been incorporated into stage shows, from classic Broadway musicals to contemporary productions. Contrary to what some may believe, not all historical-themed productions are old Broadway musicals. Several historical musicals have gone on to become classics, though this is not specifically a golden age musicals list.

On the Los Angeles Opera website, Igor Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex is available to stream now thru July 18th. Stravinsky based his opera Oedipus Rex on the ancient Greek tragedy by Sophocles. Oedipus Rex, is staged with minimal movement, which works well with COVID restrictions. A narrator describes the action in English.

Playwrights Horizons has extended Raja Feather Kelly | the feath3r theory's The KILL ONE Race, a performance-based work created and filmed at Playwrights Horizons during the pandemic, to July 31.

The Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance announced today its Harris Theater Presents season for 2021-22. Beginning with a free outdoor event on the Harris Theater Rooftop in August, the Theater will reopen to the public for the first time since March 2020.
