The New Musicals Lab (NML) at the Ferguson Center for the Performing Arts at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, is making space for new musical works by providing Artist Residencies with access to world-class facilities, funding, and student and Broadway talent.

Even when vacationing in Vermont, the creator and lead mentor at BROADWAY WORKSHOP is still working, helping to shape and mold the lives of the next generation of theater craftspeople... and talking to Broadway World about the plethora of artists playing nightclubs in shows helmed by himself.

As BroadwayWorld first reported last year,  a musical version of The Karate Kid has been in development, and today, we finally we have a better idea of when to expect the new musical. According to an Equity casting notice, the show will hold work sessions this Fall, with a pre- Broadway out-of-town tryout set for Spring 2022.

Drew is flying in to play keyboards as his hit album, 'I Could Use A Drink' - an eclectic mix of poignant, hilarious, and progressive contemporary musical theatre, celebrating the chaos and beauty of youth - is staged at the Garrick Theatre for one night only on Monday 2 August.

REWIND is an original new musical about love, redemption and the magic of second chances. It tells the story of a powerful producer who derails a young girl's promising music career. When the producer meets an untimely end, he is barred from heaven, and in order to gain entrance he must, with a little help from the Universe, rewind time and help her reclaim her true destiny.

Storyhouse's Moonlight Flicks returns this summer with the largest and longest open-air season of cinema to date.  The extended 2021 programme of big screen entertainment opens on the late May Bank Holiday weekend and will take place at three venues across the region.
