Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. to Close After 30 Years; Final Season to Open with GUARDIANS

After presenting more than 100 productions spanning three decades, Chicago's award-winning Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. has announced it will close its doors following its 30th anniversary season. The company's final season will open with Peter Morris' powerful war drama GUARDIANS, followed by three soon-to-be-announced production, plus its 28th annual Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Theater Festival. PICT Classic Theatre's Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme, by Frank McGuinness, opens just about 100 years after the historical WWI events that are authentically portrayed in the performance. Running today, September 4, through September 20 at the Stephen Foster Memorial, the play, appropriate for ages 12+, leaves audiences with a better emotional understanding of events that changed the course of millions of lives and a sense of the surprising ways that WWI continues to shape the world today. Signature Theatre has announced casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale for Incident at Vichy, written by Arthur Miller and directed by Michael Wilson. Called "one of the most important plays of our time" by The New York Times in its review of the show's original production, Incident at Vichy runs October 27 to December 6, 2015 with a Sunday, November 15 opening night in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. The romantic two-hander stars Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee Xanthe Elbrick (CORAM BOY, Irish Rep's CANDIDA) and Patrick Fitzgerald (Irish Rep's GIBRALTAR). The Irish Repertory Theatre will honor the life and legacy of the great Irish playwright Brian Friel (January 9, 1929 - October 2, 2015) with a memorial celebration to be held on Monday, December 7th, 2015 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J.
