Studio East’s Presents ‘Twas the Night

By: Oct. 26, 2011

In Studio East's beloved ‘Twas the Night all the rules are broken as reindeer dress like chorus girls, cats and mice share the same stage in harmony, and time knows no bounds when the swingin' 60s collide with prim and proper Victorian carolers.

Now in its 11th year, this Studio East tradition appeals to all ages. Casts and audiences alike look forward to songs like Adventure, Isn't that Just like a Man?, The Cat's Meow, and Buck without a Doe. But there's always a new scene or song to keep people on their toes. ‘Twas the Night involves a rotating cast of 46 talented young performers and adults. The running time is 1 hour and 40 minutes with one intermission. All tickets are $14. All performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater -11730 118th Ave NE in Kirkland ; Nov 26 Dec. 18 Sat/Sun @ 11am, 2pm and 5pm. Plus 3 Friday evening performances Dec 2-16 @7pm

With an eye toward introducing the very youngest theater audiences to the magic and wonder of musical theater, Studio East's travelling StoryBook Theater will present the timeless classic, The Boy Who Cried Wolf at Seattle 's Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI at 2700 24th Ave. ) on December 4 at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. This 55-minute musical production is geared toward 3-10-year olds while not forgetting the adults who bring them to the theater.

In The Boy Who Cried Wolf, shepherd-boy Sam is tired of watching sheep all day, and wants some excitement in his life. One day, he decides to shake things up by yelling "Help-a wolf!" just for fun. The villagers come running, but discover that Sam has pulled the wool over their eyes. Tickets to The Boy Who Cried Wolf are $9 for all patrons over 1 year of age and can be purchased at www.storybooktheater.org.
