Get swept away by the magic of movie music! The Santa Barbara Symphony presents John Williams: A Cinematic Celebration on Saturday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 19 at 3:00 p.m. Guest conductor Rei Hotoda takes the podium to lead the Symphony in a tribute concert where powerful cinematic moments will come to life through live orchestral accompaniment.

What happens when the clock strikes midnight? What worlds and creatures emerge under the comfort of night? What do vampires, onions, peaches, and roller skating grandma’s have in common? The answer to all of these, increasingly ridiculous questions, can be found at the UCSB Studio Theater during our next production, Night Night, Roger Roger by UCSB undergraduate student Roni Ragone, directed by Julie Fishell.

The UCSB Dance Company will offer a gorgeous palette of contemporary dance, both revived and newly minted, in its season running from March 9 through 11, for its first full program at the Hatlen Theater, UCSB.

The UCSB Department of Theater/Dance’s new play development program, LAUNCH PAD, will present a preview production of a new play, SHE WOLF Margaret of Anjou, written by Katie Bender and directed by Artistic Director Risa Brainin.

El Equipo, the fifth feature film by two-time Emmy nominated director Bernardo Ruiz (The Infinite Race), will have its world premiere at the 38th Santa Barbara Film Festival, taking place February 8-18, 2023, in California, and it will also screen at the 20th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, running February 17-26 in Missoula, Montana.

Music is the universal language of love, so, it's befitting that K-LITE 101.7 Morning Show hosts Gary Fruin and Catherine Remak have selected the Santa Barbara Symphony's Music Education programs to benefit from their annual 12-hour Valentine's Day Radiothon. 

The Westmont College Festival Theatre will bring Santa Barbara's treasured cinematic history to the stage in a world premiere.

Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) has released production photos for the third show of its 2022-23 Season, the suspenseful thriller, SELLING KABUL, written by Sylvia Khoury and directed by Nike Doukas. Sunstone has announced that world-renowned classical performers Danielle Marcelle Bond, Jamie Chamberlin & Nathan Granner are returning for this romantic performance, accompanied by pianist Milena Gligic.

PCPA will present The River Bride, the story of folklore, love, regret and two sister who struggle to be true to each other and their hearts. Inspired by the Brothers Grimm and Brazilian folklore, The River Bride takes us to a lyrical 'once upon a time' along the Amazon River. The production will play February 16th through March 5th, 2023 in the Severson Theatre.

Joe Spano, Faline England, Conor Lovett and Sorcha Fox are currently starring in the Southern California premiere of THE REALISTIC JONESES, written by Will Eno and directed by Judy Hegarty-Lovett. THE REALISTIC JONESES opens tonight and runs through Sunday, February 12 at 2 pm at the Rubicon Theatre. Check out the photos here!

The chaperone has hit the bottle pretty hard and is 'napping.' The young lady she's meant to watch over has cold (or are they itchy?) feet about her impending nuptials. What could go wrong? Everything--in the most musical and zany way possible, of course. The screwball Broadway hit, The Drowsy Chaperone opens at the Marjorie Luke's stage this weekend.

As Holocaust Remembrance Day approaches, The Colburn School is proud to announce that it has received a prestigious Save America's Treasures grant to preserve and digitize the Herbert and Trudl Zipper Archive at Colburn. Herbert Zipper, for whom Colburn's Zipper Hall is named, was a pioneer of the community music movement and had a deep commitment that every student should be able to participate in the performing arts.

The Santa Barbara Symphony ahs announced that Amy Tatum has been appointed to the position of principal flute. After receiving over 150 applications, 70 professionals traveled to Santa Barbara to vie for this top flute position.
