CCA Wattis To Present Works By Adam Linder For 20th Anniversary

The Wattis Institute launches its 20th anniversary year with the exhibition Adam Linder: Full Service, a survey exhibition of five choreographic works by Adam Linder (b. 1983, Sydney, Australia; lives and works in Los Angeles). The exhibition is on view at the Wattis Institute from September 8 through September 29, 2018, with performances taking place all day, every day, during open hours. A precise schedule appears below. The opening reception is Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 6:30 to 8:30pm.

The Marsh Berkeley announces the extension through June 16, 2018 of hit show The Mushroom Cure by Adam Strauss. Inspired by a scientific study that hallucinogenic mushrooms may cure obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Strauss embarked on a program of vigilante psychopharmacology. The true tale of Strauss' hilarious, harrowing, and heartrending attempts to treat his debilitating OCD with psychedelics was an Off-Broadway hit, where it was named Critics' Pick by Time Out New York, which praised it as "riveting… true-life tour de force" and hailed by The New York Times as "mining a great deal of laughter from disabling pain." Cal Shakes Presents the West Coast Premiere of EVERYBODY

California Shakespeare Theater continues its 44th Season with the West Coast Premiere of Everybody, a sparkling new riff on the 15th-century morality play The Summoning of Everyman by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, whom the New York Times calls "one of this country's most original and illuminating writers.' A finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, Everybody is Cal Shakes' second official offering under the New Classics Initiative (NCI), exploring what it means to be a classical theater in the 21st century, and to allow living writers to expand our classical canon. Directed by Nataki Garrett making her Cal Shakes debut, Everybody plays July 18 - August 5 at the Bruns Amphitheater in Orinda. Low-priced previews take place July 18-20; Opening Night is July 21. Diablo Ballet Awarded California Arts Council 'JUMP StArts' Grant

The California Arts Council announced its plan to award $24,608 to Diablo Ballet as part of its JUMP StArts program. JUMP StArts supports high-quality arts education and artists-in-residence programs for youth engaged in the juvenile justice system. Activities may take place in classroom, after-school, social services, or incarceration settings. The proposed project must be designed and developed in partnership between an arts organization and a juvenile justice/social services entity. The project should demonstrate significant planning and should reflect a collaborative relationship between the partnering organizations.

From July 7 to August 19, Napa Valley Museum Yountville will present Randy Strong - Glass Master, a unique collection of artist Randy Strong's legendary 45-year career in the historic American Art Glass movement. View Strong's work from early groundbreaking glass techniques to his present one-of-a-kind veiled sculptures. Many sculptural works will be available for sale, with a portion of proceeds benefiting our arts and education programs. The Opening Celebration will be on Saturday, July 14 at 4 pm, and is free for Museum Members; $10 for Non-Members. An artist talk on Sunday, August 5 from 2 to 4 pm is included with Museum Admission. Pear Theatre, always a champion of new plays by local playwrights, has upgraded its play development series and premieres "Fresh Produce," a weekend presentation of staged readings, from July 20 to 21. An annual event, "Fresh Produce" will this year feature three plays under development from members of the Pear Playwrights Guild: "Terms of Use" by Patrick Brennan, "Dr. Rowan, the Demon, and Love" by Carol Wolf, and "Confession" by Barry Slater. "Fresh Produce" will offer one reading on Friday evening, and two on Saturday afternoon. All readings are held at the Pear Theatre, 1110 La Avenida St., Mountain View.
