La Jolla Playhouse Announces New Additions for Inaugural WoW Festival, Begin. 10/3

La Jolla Playhouse, nationally-renowned for its commitment to the development of new work and new theatrical forms, is pleased to announce additional projects for its inaugural Without Walls (WoW) Festival of site-based work, running October 3 - 6, 2013. This one-of-a-kind Festival will showcase artists and events occurring simultaneously in and around the Playhouse Theatre District, presented by the Playhouse as well as partner institutions UC San Diego (UCSD) and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD). The Old Globe Extends DOUBLE INDEMNITY Through 9/1

The Old Globe today announced that the San Diego Premiere of the crime classic Double Indemnity will receive an additional week of performances and will now run through Sept. 1. The production begins previews on July 27 and was originally set to close on Aug. 25. Opening night is Aug. 1. Double Indemnity is adapted by David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright from the book by James M. Cain and is directed by John Gould Rubin. Tickets for the extension week are currently available to subscribers only and will go on sale to the public on Friday, July 26 at 12 noon. Tickets can be purchased online at www.TheOldGlobe.org, by phone at (619) 23-GLOBE or by visiting the Box Office at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park.

Cygnet Theatre's ongoing love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins) continues as their new season launches with Company, the Tony Award-winning musical exploration of marriage and commitment. Company is a musical comedy based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The original production premiered in 1970 and was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. Company runs July 5th through August 18. Check out a first look at production below!

"The Hebrew Hillbilly", written by and performed by singer-songwriter Shelley Fisher in a one-woman cabaret style concert at a 2 PM matinee performance today, July 7th at Arthur Newman Theatre in The Joslyn Center Theater in Palm Desert. The show chronicles Ms. Fisher's Hollywood odyssey that begins in the heart of the Mississippi Delta in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Shelley grew up surrounded by Rockin' Roll, Blues, and Bar B Que with a flamboyant but very Jewish mother who frowned on her dating the local redneck boys. But that never stopped her dreams from an early age of being a Hollywood star and she has been singing since before she could walk.
