Cygnet Theatre's ongoing love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins) continues as their new season launches with Company, the Tony Award-winning musical exploration of marriage and commitment. Company is a musical comedy based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The original production premiered in 1970 and was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. Company opens tonight, July 5th and runs through August 18.
SECRETS OF A GAY MORMON FELON Opens Tonight at San Diego Fringe Festival

Despite this being Kimball's debut performance as both an actor and a playwright, Secrets of a Gay Mormon Felon has already playedsold out performances at theatre festivals in Kansas City, Honolulu and has received wide acclaim from critics. The show is scheduled to play at the San Diego Fringe Festival, CA beginning today, July 5, and running through July 7. The play looks to continue on along the festival circuit and play at various cities across the country. The Warriors' Duet, based on the work of Laura Jeanne Morefield, and written by Charlene Baldridge, will be directed by Anne Gehman and Katherine Harroff and choreographed by Anne Gehman in its presentation at The San Diego Fringe Festival. Performances will play The 10th Avenue Theatre Cabaret Space, beginning tonight, July 5th at 11am, July 6th at 12:30pm, and July 7th at 5:00pm.

Cygnet Theatre announced today that it will kick off its 2013-14 Season with Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning musical COMPANY, beginning tonight. Cygnet has had a successful history of staging Sondheim musicals including critically-acclaimed runs of Sweeney Todd and A Little Night Music. They will be staging the thought-provoking Assassins in March as part of the current 10th Anniversary Season. The full line up for Season 11 will be announced at a later date.

Singer Nicole Dillenberg stars in a one-woman cabaret style concert that pays tribute to Hollywood star Alice Faye at a 2 PM matinee performance today, June 30th at Arthur Newman Theatre in The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert. Ms. Faye lived in Rancho Mirage and passed away May 9, 1998 at the age of 83. In 'Yes To You', Nicole Dillenberg will tell stories about Alice Faye's long and illustrious career and personal life including her marriage to Phil Harris and Tony Martin.

The Coronado Playhouse, the community's theatre, has launched an effort to help one of San Diego County's most established non-profit organizations, Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. Founded in 1980, the local Ronald McDonald House provides a 'home away from home' to families with children being treated at area hospitals for serious, often life-threatening conditions. Nearly 20,000 guests a year receive housing, meals and other crucial care and services while dealing with health crises.

"The Hebrew Hillbilly", written by and performed by singer-songwriter Shelley Fisher in a one-woman cabaret style concert at a 2 PM matinee performance on Sunday, July 7th at Arthur Newman Theatre in The Joslyn Center Theater in Palm Desert. The show chronicles Ms. Fisher's Hollywood odyssey that begins in the heart of the Mississippi Delta in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Shelley grew up surrounded by Rockin' Roll, Blues, and Bar B Que with a flamboyant but very Jewish mother who frowned on her dating the local redneck boys. But that never stopped her dreams from an early age of being a Hollywood star and she has been singing since before she could walk.
