Dancing Lessons at The Players at Barker

The Players at Barker are proud to present Mark St. Germains Dancing Lessons, streamed December 4th- 6th, 2020. This filmed live performance is a new chapter for theater arts--instead of mourning the loss of our live audience, we are trying to find new ways of reaching them. Dancing Lessons is a contemporary, romantic one act which explores the relationship of Senga, a Broadway dancer, and Ever, a Professor of geoscience--as they meet via Evers need for a dance lesson. We follow the couple as they gain each others trust as well as confidence in themselves. It is a sweet story of stumbling (literally) onto moments of unexpected revelation and self-acceptance.We are proud to bring this story to life, doing so via live stage work and the magic of digital recording. . This show had to be constructed differently--combining film and the stage, we have been able to expand our vision of the play where possible and address somewhat the lack of live audience feedback: a disconnection brought on by COVID19. Through the collaboration of the actors, directors, and crew, we submit this play as a composite work: live theater blended with a film aesthetic--a presentation of stage work seen through the lens of a camera.TO PURCHASE TICKETS:Go to playersri.org.
