The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra will perform their special Holiday concert for the first time ever at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 8P. The Boston Pops Esplanade is conducted by Keith Lockhart and features special guests Rockapella. The concert is sponsored by National Grid. Media sponsors are The Providence Journal and WPRI CBS.

Hear “America’s orchestra” in an evening of magical Christmas songs old and new, culminating in the time-honored traditional sing- along and a special visit from Jolly Ole’ St. Nick. Bring your family and friends for a night of glorious music, good will, and holiday cheer.

The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, consistently selling out holiday performances, is comprised of the members from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, minus twelve of the principals who tour as the Boston Symphony Chamber Players.

The Boston Pops was founded in 1885 to offer “light music of the best class.” The holiday concert is best known for its rousing sing-alongs and touching renditions of great Christmas classics.
