Corrib Theatre presents Sonya Kelly's How to Keep an Alien, directed by Gemma Whelan, a comedy-filled play about two women falling in love and battling the international red tape that's working to keep them apart. The production features Sara Hennessy as Sonya Kelly, with Amy Katrina Bryan on stage as herself, the stage manager. How to Keep an Alien runs for four weeks, April 12 through May 5, at New Expressive Works, 810 SE Belmont St., in Portland, Oregon.

Portland favorites Gretchen Corbett and Sharonlee McLean take the stage beginning May 4 to star in David Hare's The Breath of Life, a two-woman play The Daily Telegraph called "bitingly funny." When Francis Beale (McLean) decides she wants one last word with her ex-husband's ex-lover (Corbett), both women are forced to confront their past, their failed relationships, dashed ideals and the lens through which they choose to view their futures. Ken Rus Schmoll (readings in six of the last ten JAW Festivals at The Armory, productions at Playwrights Horizons and New York Theatre Workshop) will direct.

A DARK SKY FULL OF STARS Gets World Premiere At Theatre Vertigo

Receiving its world premiere at Theatre Vertigo, this script was workshopped at the Ashland New Plays Festival in 2017. A play about a young man, Brandon, who is always in and out of trouble. Until he is shot in the back by a member of his community. Through the perspectives of his family, friends, and girlfriend we learn the circumstances of a young American man's life and how seemingly unrelated events culminate in cutting it short. A cast of 6 diverse women bring to life the story of what we do when someone is lost violently and unexpectedly. Five of the women in our cast are making their Theatre Vertigo debut with this production and we are thrilled to welcome back Jocelyn Seid after her performance in the 2016-17 Season A Maze by Rob Handel.

Play On Shakespeare in association with Classic Stage Company (CSC) and Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) presents the Play on! festival-featuring 39 readings of new, work-in-progress translations of Shakespeare's plays into contemporary modern English by some of today's most exciting playwrights-May 29-June 30 at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater at CSC (136 E. 13th Street).In 2015, Oregon Shakespeare Festival launched an ambitious 39-play, three-year commissioning project, Play on!, tasking 36 playwrights-more than half of whom were women and playwrights of color, each paired with a dramaturg-to translate Shakespeare's canon in celebration of the enduring impact of the Bard's work. Supported by a generous grant from the Hitz Foundation and inspired by long-time patron Dave Hitz's passion for Shakespeare, the project was and continues to be led by Lue Morgan Douthit. The Roll continues this week in Portland, OR and a co-production between NNPN Core Member Milagro and Confrontation Theatre (March 21-April 13, 2019). Jump began its Roll in Chapel Hill, NC at PlayMakers Repertory Company  and heads to Austin, TX and Shrewd Productions (May 10-26, 2019), before concluding at Actor's Express (June 1-23, 2019).
