MTG Presents Light Up The World, A Dance Benefit For Children's Cancer Assn. 6/13

Light Up the World is a multicultural dance show choreographed by International Union Club, a group of Cleveland High School students. The show includes 13 dances from around the world. The purpose of this show is to raise money and donate the proceeds to the Children's Cancer Association.

OSF Commissions Second Round Of Artists For U.S. History Cycle

Alison Carey, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival?s director of American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle, and Artistic Director Bill Rauch announced today the second round of theatre artists to be commissioned for the 37-play, 10-year History Cycle, the largest commissioning and production project in the Festival's 74-year history.
Oregon Shakespeare Fest Launches Black Swan Lab For New Work 7/7-10/31

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will launch the Black Swan Lab for New Work on July 7, 2009, running through October 31. The Lab will provide approximately 390 hours of development time in 2009 and offer a shifting menu of developmental activities, including actor-driven work, work that may include on-going development but no audience component, and work that is shared in-house.
HENRY VII Opens Oregon Shakespeare Festival Summer Season 6/12

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open its summer season with one of Shakespeare's rarely produced history plays, Henry VIII. Last produced at OSF in 1984, the play will be staged with all the spectacle of the Field of the Cloth of Gold. Some tickets remain available for previews and openings. Miracle Theatre Group, the Northwest's premier Latino arts and culture organization, will hold its general auditions on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Milagro Theatre (525 SE Stark St., Portland). Olga Sanchez, one of the company?s two artistic directors, says the theatre this year is particularly interested in seeing actors who sing and who can speak some Spanish, since most of the work in the nonprofit theatre?s 2009-2010 season taps those talents. Performers should prepare two contrasting monologues, totaling no more than four minutes, plus a song. Appointments are required; contact Olga Sanchez at olga@milagro.org or 503-236-7253.
Drammy Winner Storm Large's CRAZY ENOUGH Extended Through JAW Weekend

With a three week extension that is already sold out and last night?s pick up of Drammy Awards for Original Music and Musical Actress in a Lead Role, Portland Center Stage is delighted announce a second extension for Crazy Enough, through July 26th, including 2 Late Night Performances at 10pm during Portland Center Stage?s new works festival, JAW, Friday July 24th and Saturday July 25th. The production will take a break June 29th through July 6th, picking back up with performances July 7th through the 26th, with Tuesday through Friday performances at 7:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday matinee performances at 2:00 pm and one Saturday 7:30 performance on July 18th. There will be no Thursday matinees for the added extension weeks. Tickets range from $25.50 to $48.50, with student and under 30 discounts available. Portland State University School of Fine And Performing Arts and the Department of Theater Arts is set to present The Imaginary Invalid by Molière. This Oregon premiere of a new adaption by Constance Congdon is directed by Glenn Gauer. Performances at Portland Center for the Performing Arts will be in the Dolores Winningstad Theater and will take place Saturday, May 30 - Sunday, June 7, 2009: Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 31 & June 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Three studio titles will change and one production will move to the Main Stage in a major revision of the Portland Center Stage 2009/2010 season. Early strong seller The Chosen will move to the Main Stage, replacing Joe Turner's Come and Gone (which will be deferred to future season). In the studio, a possible Broadway tour causes our production of Thurgood Marshall to be postponed, and The Best So Far will be put on hold to give it a bit more gestation (and New York fundraising) time.
