Portland Taiko Drums Up Excitement at The Alden 11/5

Portland, Oregon's award-winning, Asian-American drumming ensemble, Portland Taiko, will present an exhilarating musical experience at The Alden in McLean, on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for McLean tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
"Taiko," the Japanese word for drum and the name of the art form, has its roots in ancient Japanese tradition and was used in religious ceremonies, community festivals and theater. The Portland Taiko Ensemble brings its own unique, contemporary style and innovations to taiko, weaving rhythm, melody, humor and movement together into a high-energy performance that is both enjoyable and educational.
