It tells of six awkward spelling champions that are in the competition of a lifetime where only one speller leaves victorious.
William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin brought The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee to life. Finn created the music and lyrics, while Sheinkin wrote the book. The hit musical was moved Off-Broadway to the Second Stage Theatre, where it enjoyed critical and box-office success. It then premiered on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre.
The play is directed by Rob Gretta, with musical direction by Oliver Lo.
