Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will open the 2011-12 season of Harlan Jacobson's Talk Cinema film series with a screening on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. The Center also will open San Francisco Opera's Grand Opera Cinema Series on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. with a screening of The Elixir of Love. Both films will be shown in the Center's Virginia G. Piper Theater.

Performed by Joanne Robertson and JP Perpich, the play centers on just two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Using the epistolary form sometimes found in novels, they sit side by side at tables and read the notes, letters and cards - in which over nearly 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats - that have passed between them throughout their separated lives. This play was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

On September 18th, Stephens, puppeteer from Sesame Street and Citation of Excellence award winner of the Jim Henson Union Internationale de la Marionette will instruct a Puppeteering Master Class.
