The Bard's New Yeare and Ye Olde Main Street Renaissance Faire Will Take Place 1/11

Join Mesa Arts Center and Southwest Shakespeare Company for 'The Bard's New Yeare,' Jan. 11, 6-10pm at the MAC, an outdoor mini-festival featuring a Juggling Jester, Shakespearean vignettes & song, Renaissance music, stilt-walkers & more! Performances will include selections from 'The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (abridged)', and songs from "The Tempest." The Taylor Family Circus will entertain with fire juggling and stilt-walking. Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum is open that evening, and admission, as always, is free! Shop for works of original art by Arizona artists at the MAC Store Cooperative Artists Gallery. "The Bard's New Yeare" is held in collaboration with Second Friday's 'Ye Olde Main Street Renaissance Faire,' also 6-10pm, which offers music, artist booths, costume contests and food along Main Street in Downtown Mesa.

LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO 'ROUND, Music and Lyrics by Bob Merrill, Written by Duane Poole, and Musical arrangements by Brad Ellis, musical arranger/director from television's Glee, will make its world premiere Jan. 23-Feb. 17 at Phoenix Theatre in Arizona.

Great Arizona Puppet Theater will be jumping right into 2013 with a 'New Year's Puppet Slam' tonight, January 4 and Saturday, January 5 at 8pm. Featured performers will include long-time GAPT favorites Rude Rabbit Productions (their motto: 'Monkeys is funny!'), Keep It Short Theater (whose works tend toward the thought-provoking and introspective) and Die Puppet Die (adorable puppets doing outrageous things); puppetry newbie Puppet Stuff; and, all the way from New York City, GAPT alumnus Doug Strich with an new marionette vignette created just for this Slam.
