Written by Bisaya music advocate Jude Gitamondoc and Rowell “Medyo Maldito” Ucat, this BisRock (Bisayan Rock) jukebox musical is your (a)typical romantic comedy, which features a good dose of maoy moments, hugot lines, and acerbic Bisaya humor. The musical is made up of landmark Bisaya hit songs, both contemporary and classic, written by Max Surban, Cattski Espina, Insoy Nin?al, Gitamondoc, Medyo Maldito, and Junior Kilat, among others.
“Gugmang Giatay” follows a small, close-knit neighborhood that gets #shookt when Inday, a down-to-earth girl, lets slip that all is not well in her relationship with Undo, her long-time musician boyfriend. A surprising sequence of events ensues as gossip, pretense, and confessions lead them and their closest friends and associates to address the situation in their own well-meaning but often misguided ways—accompanied by many dangerous complications. The disparate group proves that while love is indeed jinxed, it can still lead to surprisingly desirable ends, if one lets it.
