On this week's THE VIEW, host Whoopi Goldberg was joined by Kathy Najimy, Beth Fowler, and composer Marc Shaiman for a special 25th Anniversary celebration of the 1992 musical film SISTER ACT.

The new musical, ANASTASIA, opens tonight on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street), produced by Stage Entertainment, Bill Taylor (Sister Act, Rocky), Tom Kirdahy (It's Only A Play, The Visit) and Hunter Arnold (Kinky Boots, Spring Awakening). The company is led by Christy Altomare, Derek Klena, John Bolton, Ramin Karimloo, Caroline O'Connor and Mary Beth Peil.

Sierra Boggess is best known world-wide for re-inventing the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera. Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber calls her 'the best Christine certainly.' She played the role in the Broadway, West End, and the televised 25th Anniversary concert productions of Phantom filmed at London's Royal Albert Hall (available on DVD). During a performance with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, Boggess performed Pense a Moi, Think of Me, from the French production. Check out the video below!

The main cast of the new international touring production of Broadway and West End's hit musical SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, featuring Grant Almirall (Don Lockwood), Bethany Dickson (Kathy Selden), and Steve van Wyk (Cosmo Brown), delighted the Philippine press on Thursday, May 28, at Solaire Resort and Casino's The Forum with one of the show's signature musical numbers: the hummable '50s classic 'Good Morning.'

Stage Entertainment, Glass Half Full Productions and Just for Laughs Theatricals presents MADE IN DAGENHAM, which will open at the Adelphi Theatre on Wednesday 5 November, with previews from Thursday 9 October. Based on the hit British film, this new musical comedy will star international stage and screen actress GEMMA ARTERTON in the lead role of Rita O'Grady, with ADRIAN DER GREGORIAN as her husband Eddie. Stage Entertainment USA and Sylvester Stallone have announced that the new musical, ROCKY, will come to Broadway in 2014, beginning preview performances in February and officially opening in March at Broadway's historic Winter Garden Theatre. ROCKY received its world premiere in fall 2012 in Hamburg, Germany.

The paper reports that 'the Broadway version is expected to cost about $15 million, according to Bill Taylor of Stage Entertainment USA, which is producing 'Rocky' on Broadway with Mr. Stallone.' and that 'The Broadway production is expected to be fairly similar to the one in Hamburg, Mr. Taylor said, including the finale - Rocky's climatic fight against Apollo in a regulation-size boxing ring - and the use of music from the movies, like Bill Conti's theme music and 'Eye of the Tiger.'

Immediately, speculation began at what might replace MAMMA MIA! in the theatre, which was previously home to CATS. Today, Michael Riedel reports that Broadway might see a Spring transfer of the ROCKY musical, now running in Germany. He writes that '"Rocky das Musical" cost $20 million to stage in Germany. Sources say the price tag could hit nearly $30 million in New York. With so much money to recoup, the show would inevitably have to land at one of Broadway's largest theaters.'

BIG FISH, a new musical based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the 2003 Columbia Pictures film written by John August, will have its pre-Broadway world premiere at Chicago's Oriental Theatre (24 West Randolph Street) in a limited 5-week engagement opening tonight, April 19, 2013, and playing through Sunday, May 5, 2013.
