On Day 25, we celebrate the composing team behind the hit Broadway revival of Once On This Island, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty!

Asolo Rep continues its 2017-18 season with the celebrated American musical RAGTIME. Check out video of the cast in action below! Directed by Peter Rothstein, founding artistic director of Theater Latte Da in Minneapolis, RAGTIME features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, who all garnered Tony Awards for the production. The original Broadway production was directed by Frank Galati, who received a Tony nomination for his work and is an Associate Artist at Asolo Rep. A collaboration with Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, RAGTIME is currently on stage through May 27 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

The Tony Nominated Broadway revival of Once On This Island, opened on December 3 at The Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street) to rave reviews. The new production is directed by Tony nominee Michael Arden, and choreographed by the critically-acclaimed Camille A. Brown.

"At the turn of the century, worlds will collide in America!" The Axelrod Performing Arts Center begins its inaugural season as a professional theater with Luis Salgado's beautiful new staging of Ragtime the Musical. See the video of the Axelrod company in final rehearsals below!

As magical as the evening was, after Freddie Gershon gave an impassioned presentation to the duo, Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones hit the stage and brought the house down at ages 88 and 89 respectively. They joined forces onstage to perform a song from their musical The Bone Room, described by Jones as being about 'the pleasures of dying and being embalmed in this great country of ours.'
