Broadway Sessions celebrated their long-awaited re-opening night this past Thursday, October 21, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Hosted by Ben Cameron with music direction by Joshua Stephen Kartes, it was a joyful evening with performances by Broadway favorites.

During this Pandemic, the theatrical industry has been one of those hit the hardest. Following CDC and PA Department of Health safety guidelines, Bucks County Playhouse re-opens this weekend with  its all-new “Halloween Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert,” performed  live on the Playhouse stage.

Theatrical superstars Sharon D. Clarke, Noma Dumezweni, Clive Rowe, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Johnnie Fiore, Brenda Edwards, Zaris-Angel Hator, Aisha Jawando, Norm Lewis, Brittney Johnson, Brandi Chavonne Massey, and Joe Aaron Reid today join the lineup for Turn Up, a live stream supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

As you know, February is Black History Month. We here at Broadway Sessions wanted to take a moment to reflect on the massive impact of African American legacy on Broadway and beyond. We rallied an incredible roster of some of Broadway's most fantastic voices to speak and sing on the subject. The result was moving and hilarious and powerful and poignant. And the singing? Well, let's just say y'all aren't ready for this!

On Monday October 16, 16 Wicked women gathered in song in The Green Room 42. The Green Elixir Mixer was a one night only concert featuring some of the most iconic actresses to have ever played the roles of Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked. The lineup included original Broadway cast members, current cast members and so many in between.

WICKED! I've got your attention now haven't I? Well, Wicked is a big word in my part of the world and maybe in yours too. 13 years ago I was honored to be a part of the original Broadway cast of the Oz-inspired blockbuster (you may have even heard my work on track #2 asking 'Glinda, is it true you were her friend?… but I digress).  At Broadway Sessions we like to celebrate Wicked Day (along with another spooky holiday) with ELPHABALL! Our salute to all things Wicked, featuring all women who have played the famously misunderstood green girl, Elphaba. Our 2nd annual ElphaBall was in a word, magic. 

The 5th Avenue Theatre presents the sensational new musical Jasper in Deadland under the direction of the giftedBrandon Ivie. Starring as Jasper and his guide to the Underworld, Gretchen are The Book of Mormon's Matt Doyleand New York-based actress and musician Sydney Shepherd. Joining them on this mystical journey are Andi Alhadeff, Kyle Bernbach, Jared Michael Brown, Kyle Robert Carter, Taryn Darr, Sarah Rose Davis, Frederick Hagreen, Louis Hobson,Diana Huey, Brandi Chavonne Massey, Caety Sagoian andEvan Woltz. Bucks County Playhouse gets into full swing with the Tony Award-winning Best Musical AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', running now through September 7, 2014. Brother and sister team Aisha and Darius de Haas along with cast members, Adrienne Warren, Brandi Chavonne Massey, Max Kumangai, Alicia Lundgren, and Richard Riaz Yoder will have the audience snapping their fingers and tapping their toes to the songs of Fats Waller.
