Ivo Van Hove's reimagined West Side Story is coming to Broadway this season. In a new interview with Vogue, he has revealed some of the changes he has made, including cutting two iconic moments from the original production.

Something great is coming! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the classic Leonard Bernstein musical West Side Story is making its return to Broadway this winter directed by Ivo van Hove, and the revival has found its cast (including 23 Broadway debuts!) BroadwayWorld has learned that the previously announce revival of beloved musical West Side Story will begin previews on Dec. 10, 2019 and open February 6th at the Broadway Theatre.

Dear Evan Hansen's Mike Faist has been cast as Riff of the Jets  in Fox's Steven Spielberg West Side Story film, according to Deadline. Puerto Rican singer and dancer Ana Isabelle will play Rosalia, a shark who works with Maria and Dance Moms' Maddie Ziegler has been cast as part of the Jets. They have also cast  over 40 performers set as Sharks and Jets!

The acclaimed revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical Carousel, directed by three-time Tony Award® winner Jack O'Brien and choreographed by 2018 Tony Award winner Justin Peck, announced today that the show will play its final Broadway performance at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street) on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Preview performances began on Wednesday, February 28 and Carousel officially opened on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Entertainment industry professionals are invited to attend a private industry presentation of Bran Castle, a new musical by Donald Nolan, on Thursday, June 21 at 11AM at Ford Studio at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street, between Dyer & 10th Avenues). Bran Castle is directed by Rachel Klein (Red Rose, Green Gold off-Broadway) and features musical direction by Andy Peterson (Atomic off-Broadway).

At this year's Chita Rivera Awards, actress, dancer, and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade received the second annual Lifetime Achievement Award, iconic composer John Kander received the Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theater as a Composer and legendary theater director and producer Harold Prince was presented with the SDC Director Award for Exemplary Collaboration with Choreographers.

Carousel and The Actors Fund announced today that the new hit revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical will host a special Mondaymatinee performace on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th St.), with proceeds to benefit The Actors Fund.

The revival of Carousel is on its way to Broadway and it looks like stage star Lindsay Mendez may be joining the cast. No official announcement has been made, but an eagle-eyed viewer caught the actress's name up on the Imperial's marquee.
