As you know, February is Black History Month. We here at Broadway Sessions wanted to take a moment to reflect on the massive impact of African American legacy on Broadway and beyond. We rallied an incredible roster of some of Broadway's most fantastic voices to speak and sing on the subject. The result was moving and hilarious and powerful and poignant. And the singing? Well, let's just say y'all aren't ready for this!
Casting has been announced for the premier staged reading of Journey of The American Negro Motorist, a new film written and directed by author and Broadway alumn, Steven Cutts. The reading is presented in recognition of Black History month and serves as a charitable fundraiser for Harlem Children's Zone.

Last night at the Minskoff Theatre, The Lion King celebrated a huge milestone- 20 years on Broadway. Creative team members Julie Taymor, Tim Rice, Garth Fagan, Lebo M., Mark Mancina, Roger Allers, and Irene Mecchi joined hundreds of alumni and others for a special performance of the show, culminating in a surprise performance by The Lion King's Tony-nominated composer Elton John.
