Chautauqua Theatre Company, under the leadership of Vivienne Benesch, Artistic Director, and Sarah Clare Corporandy, Managing Director, presents William Shakespeare's magical masterwork, The Tempest, directed by Jade King Carroll, playing August 8-15 on the Bratton Theatre Mainstage. Due to popular demand, the Clarence Brown Theatre has added a Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 pm performance to the run of "Monty Python's Spamalot". Several of the shows in the April 24-May 11, 2014 production run have limited availability. The production is sponsored by Schaad Companies, Pilot Flying J, the Mildred Haines and William Elijah Morris Lecture Endowment Fund and the Arts & Heritage Fund. The Clarence Brown Theatre opens the second half of its season with Matthew Lopez' highly acclaimed "The Whipping Man" running January 30 to February 16 in the Carousel Theatre and directed by John Sipes. Our Country's Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker will play in the Clarence Brown Theatre's Carousel Theatre October 3-20, 2014. Based on real events, this award-winning drama is an evocative look at a moment in history - the founding of a nation -and an inspiring tale about the transforming power of theatre. The production is sponsored by the Clayton Foundation. It contains brief nudity and strong language. A staged reading of The Recruiting Officer immediately following the Friday, October 11 performance and a talk back with the director, dramaturg and cast immediately following the Sunday, October 13 matinee also are associated with this production.
