The August Wilson African American Cultural Center, City Theatre Company, and DEMASKUS Theater Collective will co-present the story of voting-rights icon Fannie Lou Hamer in the Pittsburgh premiere of FANNIE: The Music and Life of Fannie Lou Hamer by Cheryl L. West.

What did our critic think of Ragtime at Theatre Memphis? RAGTIME is a gargantuan production. It's epic in scope and expectations. Any community theatre attempting to find a way to match the scale and scope of Broadway or a national tour is in dangerous waters.

Opera Memphis has announced performances of In Real Life, a collection of operatic monologues for soprano, baritone, and chamber ensemble by composer Robert Paterson and librettist David Cote. Performances will be held on Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22 at the Clark Opera Memphis Center (6745 Wolf River Blvd) at 8pm.

Cumberland Valley School of Music will host its 31st Annual Gala Showcase Concert via live stream from Thomson Hall Alumnae Chapel on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 3:00 PM. This annual concert will feature musical selections from students and staff that follow this years theme “Connections.”

Cumberland Valley School of Music expanded into Greencastle and acquired Growing with Music, 42 Center Square, Greencastle, PA. This location will serve as an extension of CVSM which is located on the campus of Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. 

a?oeDimension and Translucency in Encaustic and Cold Waxa?? opens in Gallery 110 North of the Plymouth Arts Center on Friday, August 14, 2020. A public reception will be held from 5pm to 7pm inside the Plymouth Arts Center and in the courtyard where several of the artists will be demonstrating their artform.

Kinky Boots, The Lauderhill Performing Arts Center and Broadway Palm's third production of their inaugural season, will open on January 23rd. The multiple award-winning musical will run through February 9th.

Once, the winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical, and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will open at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC) on December 5th and run through December 22nd. The musical is based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film of the same name, which was written and directed by John Carney, and starred Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, with original music and lyrics by Mr. Hansard and Ms. Irglová.  (The multiple award-winning Once has also won Grammy and Olivier awards.)

ONCE tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician who's about to give up on his dream when an intriguing young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs. As the chemistry between them grows, his music soars to powerful new heights... but their unlikely connection turns out to be deeper and more complex than your everyday romance

Once, the musical that broke new ground on Broadway, will begin rehearsals in Fort Myers on August 6, 2019.  Winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, ONCE is a truly original Broadway experience. The musical is based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film of the same name which was written and directed by John Carney, and starred Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, with original music and lyrics by Mr. Hansard and Ms. Irglova.

The Billie Holiday Theatre at RestorationART, in association with Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company, is presenting Colman Domingo's Dot under the direction of Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon (American Son currently on Broadway starring Kerry Washington, A Raisin in the Sun and August Wilson's Fences) and starring Emmy Award-winning Billie Holiday Theatre alumna Denise Burse ('Black Mirror,' Tyler Perry's 'House of Payne') as Dotty. The production began previews on October 20th, opened on October 25th and will run through November 18th at The Billie Holiday Theatre, 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11216. From the outset, it is clear, that Theatre Raleigh's production of ONCE is not going to be a typical theatrical experience, but a completely immersive one. Based on the 2007 movie of the same name, ONCE is a story about a Guy and a Girl who come together through their love of music. From the get-go, a band of players greets the audience with music and merriment, transporting the occupants of The Kennedy Theatre from Downtown Raleigh to smack dab in the middle of Dublin's North Strand. And that talented band of players it turns out makes up the brilliant ensemble cast, led by Jack Boice, Megan Ort, and Tracy Thomas. They sing, dance, act, and play multiple instruments, as do the two leads, played by David Toole and Morgan Parpan.

Guy meets girl in the smash-hit award-winning musical. On the streets of Dublin, and Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolve into a powerful but complicate love story. Once runs September 5 - 16 at the Kennedy Theatre in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Regional Premiere of ONCE opened at Playhouse on the Square on January 19th, and will continue to run through February 11th.
