Today's top stories: Six officially opens, Flying Over Sunset begins previews, and more!

Lincoln Center Theater has announced an online ticket lottery for its new musical FLYING OVER SUNSET, beginning with the musical's first preview Thursday, March 12 at 8pm at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). The musical, with book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie, and choreography by Michelle Dorrance will open Thursday, April 16.

Flying Over Sunset is currently in rehearsals! The musical, with a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie, features choreography by Michelle Dorrance, and stars Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton, Erika Henningsen, Jeremy Kushnier, Emily Pynenburg, Michele Ragusa, Robert Sella, Laura Shoop, Atticus Ware, and Tony Yazbeck. Aria Braswell, William Colin, Danny Gardner, Kate Marilley, Tony Roach, and Michael Winther understudy various roles.

The sun is gonna shine today because its the birthday of the legendary actor and comedian Steve Martin! Theatre Aspen (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) announced today the complete casts and creative teams for the company's 36th Season, which includes the Tony Award-winning musical Guys & Dolls, the smash-hit musical Little Shop of Horrors, and the Tony-winning play God of Carnage, as well as additional programming and special events for the summer. This season, loaded with talent from Broadway, national tours, and training programs from across the country, promises to provide one not-to-be-missed event after another. The 2019 Theatre Aspen main-stage season runs June 21st through August 17th at the Hurst Theatre in Rio Grande Park.

Jordan Jaffe along with Rebecca Crigler officially opened the world premiere of Jaffe's new eco-comedy Whirlwind on January 28, following previews that began January 23.

In MISALLIANCE, the high-flying comedy, Shaw examines a variety of mating combinations. The social and the political collide with the romantic and the practical; the aristocrats take on the middle classes and vice versa, and-to top it all off there's a glamorous lady aviatrix and a tipsy gun-toting socialist loose on the grounds! This is one of Shaw's most beloved of plays.

For his fifth and final work with Shakespeare Theatre Company director Michael Khan, the playwright David Ives has not returned to rhyming couplet adaptations of French classics, as he did in 'The Liar,' 'The Heir Apparent,' 'The Metromaniacs' and 'the School for Lies.'

Gingold Theatrical Group announces the 14th Season of Project Shaw, a special series of evenings of plays that embrace human rights and free speech. All of GTG's programming, inspired by the works of George Bernard Shaw, are designed to provoke peaceful discussion and activism. This series is presented monthly at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street).
