This April, the César-nominated actor Camille Cottin will join the cast of the English National Opera’s (ENO) new production of The Handmaid’s Tale at the London Coliseum. Collaborating with a cast of world-class opera singers, Camille will be making her West End debut acting in her first opera.

Matt Bomer will reportedly play one of Leonard Bernstein's lovers. He joins the previously announced Bradley Cooper, who will direct and play Bernstein, and Carey Mulligan, who will play Felicia Montealegre, Bernstein's wife. Cooper will also write the script with Josh Singer.

Bradley Cooper has confirmed that his upcoming Leonard Bernstein biopic, Maestro, is set to begin filming in May. Cooper will direct and star in the upcoming film, also featuring Carey Mulligan as Felicia Montealegre, Bernstein's wife. Bernstein has conducted works such as West Side Story, Peter Pan, Candide, Wonderful Town, On the Town, and more.

The world premiere musical THE VISITOR, with music by Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt, lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Yorkey and a book by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Brian Yorkey, opened tonight at The Public Theater.

Disney's “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made,” an original movie based on the best-selling book of the same name, debuts today, streaming only on Disney+. The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2020 last week where it received overwhelmingly positive reviews, follows the hilarious exploits of our quirky, deadpan hero, Timmy Failure, who, along with his 1,500-pound polar bear partner Total, operates Total Failure Inc., a Portland detective agency.

Greg Silverman's Stampede and Peter Lawson's Steel Springs Pictures announced today that they will produce and co-finance the feature film ALICE, which Krystin Ver Linden will direct from her original screenplay. The film will mark Stampede's second feature to go into production and the first feature made under Peter Lawson's Steel Springs Pictures banner. Filming is due to commence in Louisiana in early 2020.   

Variety reports that a drama starring Matt Damon will be released on November 6, 2020. Tom McCarthy directs the currently untitled script. 

This afternoon, Disney+ made its D23 Expo debut with its first-ever showcase presentation, announcing six new series in development and revealing key details about the highly anticipated streaming service to an enthusiastic audience at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who stars in the Disney+ original film “Lady and the Tramp,” hosted the lively presentation, welcoming Kevin Mayer, chairman, Direct-to-Consumer & International, to the stage to kick off the show.

The event takes place Monday, September 9 at the Fairmont Royal York, during the 44th Toronto International Film Festival. To recognize their leadership in creating a union between social impact and cinema, the TIFF Tribute Gala will introduce the new TIFF Impact Award. Participant Media will receive the inaugural award, which will be accepted by Founder and Chairman Jeff Skoll and CEO David Linde, marking an incredible 15 years of social action through storytelling. The TIFF Tribute Gala will also include the new Mary Pickford Award, honouring a female emerging talent in the industry. Fifty-eight film and television writers have been named finalists for The 44 th Annual HUMANITAS Prize, it was announced today by HUMANITAS Executive Director Cathleen Young and President Ali LeRoi. The writers are nominated for their work in the 30-minute Comedy, 60-minute Drama, Children's Teleplay, Independent Feature Film, Drama Feature Film, Comedy Feature Film, Family Feature Film and Documentary categories. The HUMANITAS Prize was created to honor film and television writers whose work inspires compassion, hope, and understanding in the human family.
