Hypokrit Theatre Company and Access Theater present R + J, a female/genderqueer adaptation of Shakespeare's classic Romeo and Juliet. Adapted and directed by Molly Houlahan featuring a diverse cast of 6 women/ gender-nonconforming actors playing all of the roles, previews begin September 27 at Access Theater in Tribeca. Opening is slated for Thursday, October 4.
Access Theater is thrilled to announce the theater companies and artists who will join the Access community as 2018-2019 Resident Artists. The seven theater companies that will be in residence for the full year are: The Anthropologists, The Navigators, Rat Queen Theatre, Square One Collective, Tiny Trip, Upstream Artists' Collective, and Puss Collective. The individual artists who will spend six months as residents at Access include: Ashley Griffin, James Kennedy, Minhui Lee, Noam Shapiro and Paulo K Tirol, Ran Xia, Susanna Wolk and Justine Gelfman, Ty Defoe and Tidtaya Sinutoke, and Valerie L Work.

SHOWTIME has announced the order for an eight-episode limited series about Fox News founder Roger Ailes, starring Academy Award® and Golden Globe winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind)in the title role and based upon the extensive reporting of Gabriel Sherman in New York magazine and his bestselling book, The Loudest Voice in the Room. Sherman co-wrote the initial episode with Oscar® winner Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, Win Win), who will executive produce with Emmy winner Jason Blum. The project is a co-production from SHOWTIME and Blumhouse Television (Sharp Objects, The Normal Heart). The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc.

Deadline has reported that Paramount Pictures and Amblin will co-finance Bernstein, a film about iconic composer Leonard Bernstein that Bradley Cooper will star in and direct. Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and Blumhouse Television today announced that Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) award-winner Anthony Hemingway (UNSOLVED: THE MURDERS OF TUPAC AND THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G.) is set to direct the premiere episode of USA/SYFY's upcoming series THE PURGE based on the hit film franchise. From Blumhouse Television and Universal Cable Productions, THE PURGE, which will air on USA and SYFY, and the series was created, and will be executive produced by the film franchise creator James DeMonaco, and led by Jason Blum, the entire team behind the blockbusters are on board to executive produce: Michael Bay with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form under the Platinum Dunes banner and Sebastien K. Lemercier. Thomas Kelly serves as executive producer/showrunner of the series.
