La MaMa Will Present Timothy White Eagle's Newest Work THE INDIGO ROOM Next Month

Timothy White Eagle, the Seattle-based Indigenous performance artist and collaborator with Taylor Mac, will debut his newest work, THE INDIGO ROOM – ritual theater about contemporary isolation and community – with performances November 11-21 at La MaMa's Downstairs theatre (66 E. 4 St.), it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's artistic director. 

Barbican announces January - April 2022 Theatre and Dance Programme

The Barbican today announces its 2022 Theatre and Dance programme, from January to April. Tickets go on sale to Principal Patrons and Barbican Patrons today, to Barbican Members Plus on Thursday 28 October, to Barbican Members on Friday 29 October and on general sale from Monday 1 November 2021.

Kat Edmonson to Release 'Holiday Swingin! A Kat Edmonson Christmas Vol. 1' Album

Kat Edmonson will release her new album Holiday Swingin! A Kat Edmonson Christmas Vol. 1 on November 19. Edmonson reinterpreted classics for the jazz Christmas album, including “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Let It Snow” and “O Christmas Tree.” Edmonson will also be starring in Taylor Mac's upcoming musical 'The Hang'. Complete Casting Announced for Taylor Mac's THE HANG

HERE has announced full casting for The Hang, featuring book and lyrics by Taylor Mac, music by Matt Ray and directed by Niegel Smith. Co-presented with PROTOTYPE: Opera | Theatre | Now, The Hang will begin performances on Friday January 7, 2022, on the HERE Mainstage (145 Sixth Avenue, NY, NY 10013) for a run through Sunday February 20, 2022.

Magic Theatre Announces 2021-2022 Season

Magic Theatre has announced the titles and dates for the Company’s upcoming in-person 2021-2022 season. Early 2022 will feature the long-delayed World Premiere of Miranda Rose Hall’s THE KIND ONES (Feb 2 – 20, 2022*), followed by the World Premiere of Sam Chanse’s MONUMENT, OR FOUR SISTERS (A SLOTH PLAY) which will perform May 11– June 5, 2022*.

Playwright Taylor Mac shares, “although it pains me to postpone the premiere of JOY AND PANDEMIC, timing is everything. Unfortunately, with the rise of infections, this is not the time to engage whole-heartedly with the themes in this work. Our hope is that time will come soon.”

BWW Interview: Sean San José of THE NEW AGE OF MAGIC GALA at Magic Theatre Wants to Invite Everyone to the Party

For his opening salvo as Magic Theatre’s newly appointed Artistic Director, Sean San José has decided to throw a party. On Thursday, August 5th, Magic will present its 2021 gala 'The New Age of Magic' outdoors at Fort Mason. San José strongly believes theater should be for everyone, not just people of means, so Magic is hosting a more egalitarian event with ticket prices starting at a very reasonable $25. Mainly, though, the goal is to bring people together to kick back and have some fun.

Magic Theatre Welcomes Eleven New Board Members

These new board members join the current board of seven who were intimately involved in selecting Sean San José and who support his vision of making the Magic Theatre the new artistic home for multicultural, multi-generational forms of performance in San Francisco.
