All For One Theater has selected 5 playwrights who will create and develop five brand new solo plays as part of All For One's 2022 Solo Collective development series: Nia Calloway (HOMEBODY: A Ritual Party), Rachel Lin (Dear John), Matthew Paul Olmos (the un'admiring), Reynaldo Piniella (Black and Blue), and Jason Odell Williams (Destroying David).

Today, the directors of the PROTOTYPE Festival, alongside partners St. Ann's Warehouse, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, and Abrons Arts Center, announced the difficult decision to postpone this year's tenth anniversary festival to January of 2023, due to the current surge in COVID cases and the resulting safety risks, as well as logistical challenges including artist and staff illnesses, travel complications, and more. The Festival was scheduled to run January 7-16, 2022.

Lucille Lortel Theatre has announced the first guests of 2022 for its “Live at The Lortel” podcast series. Now in its third season, “Live at The Lortel” is hosted by Eric Ostrow and co-hosts Joy DeMichelle and John-Andrew Morrison.

HERE will present The Hang, featuring book and lyrics by Taylor Mac, music by Matt Ray and direction by Niegel Smith. Co-presented with the PROTOTYPE Festival, The Hang will begin performances on Friday January 7, 2022 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, NY, NY 10013), and run through Sunday February 20, 2022.

Kaatsbaan Cultural Park continues its mission to be a home for artists across disciplines with their Annual Summer and Fall Festivals. From June 3 to 19, rising stars from American Ballet Theatre Studio Company and Live Arts Global, and the critical darling of the New York scene Taylor Mac will present both classic and new works.

Joe’s Pub has announced their winter programming for 2022 starting in January through February with two shows each evening. In addition, the venue will welcome its former sous chef, Ricky Mungaray back to the kitchen as Executive Chef.

In 2021, the show features new songs by Mac (and a new look by Machine Dazzle) and all the fan favorites from yesteryear, including Mac’s “Christmas with Grandma,” animated by Dana Lyn, and Machine Dazzle’s interior monologue of a Christmas Tree, “Surprise Destiny.”

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation has announced the recipient and three finalists for its annual Zelda Fichandler Award. The Fichandler Award recognizes directors and choreographers who have demonstrated great accomplishment to date with singular creativity and deep investment in a particular community or region.

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) announced Abigail Buell as the newly appointed Managing Director of San Diego's downtown resident professional theatre, now in its 46th Season. 

Timothy White Eagle, the Seattle-based Indigenous performance artist and collaborator with Taylor Mac, will debut his newest work, THE INDIGO ROOM – ritual theater about contemporary isolation and community – with performances November 11-21 at La MaMa's Downstairs theatre (66 E. 4 St.), it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's artistic director. 

The Barbican today announces its 2022 Theatre and Dance programme, from January to April. Tickets go on sale to Principal Patrons and Barbican Patrons today, to Barbican Members Plus on Thursday 28 October, to Barbican Members on Friday 29 October and on general sale from Monday 1 November 2021.

Kat Edmonson will release her new album Holiday Swingin! A Kat Edmonson Christmas Vol. 1 on November 19. Edmonson reinterpreted classics for the jazz Christmas album, including “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Let It Snow” and “O Christmas Tree.” Edmonson will also be starring in Taylor Mac's upcoming musical 'The Hang'. Magic Theatre has announced the titles and dates for the Company’s upcoming in-person 2021-2022 season. Early 2022 will feature the long-delayed World Premiere of Miranda Rose Hall’s THE KIND ONES (Feb 2 – 20, 2022*), followed by the World Premiere of Sam Chanse’s MONUMENT, OR FOUR SISTERS (A SLOTH PLAY) which will perform May 11– June 5, 2022*.
