Most of us are quite familiar with the nostalgic and beloved 1947 Christmas movie, Miracle on 34th Street.  But did you know that the inspiration for the story, about a disillusioned woman, her skeptical daughter and a mysterious man who believes he is the real Santa Claus, came when Valentine Davies was standing in line at a big department store during the Christmas season.

Miracle on 34th Street is the classic Christmas tale of the power of hope and belief presented as a 1940's radio play with authentic musical stylings of the 1930's and 40's. Favorite stars of the day gather to perform this endearing holiday tale before a live studio audience complete with live sound effects. Directed by Jere Rae-Mansfield, produced by Jim Bukowski and Cheryl Mastrovito - with music direction by Jim Holmes, and costume design by Betty Fuhrmann ~RATED G

Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play, adapted from the 1947 Lux Radio Broadcast by Lance Arthur Smith, original songs and arrangements by Jon Lorenz, directed by Joseph Leo Bwarie, with musical direction by Anthony Lucca, choreography by Anna Aimee White and produced by Kyle Montgomery, will have its Los Angeles debut this Friday, November 1 at Actors Co-op's David Schall Theatre. The musical runs Friday, November 1, 2019 - Sunday, December 15, 2019.

Bay Street Theater has announced that Irving Berlin's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN has been extended to run until September 1. The Central New York Playhouse Holiday production for this season is the timeless classic Miracle on 34th Street under the direction of Bella Calabria. production, set in present day, is heartwarming, nostalgic, and, as per usual, demonstrates the devotion of the community theater performers to their craft.

The iconic holiday classic movie, Miracle on 34th Street, first brought joy into the hearts of millions in the summer of 1947. Although it was and is most definitely a Christmas movie, the original producers chose to release it in May because more people went to the movies in the summer. The fact that it was a Christmas movie was not even included in the marketing campaign. It was kept a secret! Hard to imagine that now, as it has become a holiday tradition for generations.
