City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s home for contemporary plays, has announced the details of the theatre’s 48th season of bold, new works, beginning in September 2022. City Theatre’s second season post-pandemic shutdown will feature five plays with first-time and returning artists, plus special events.  

Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) concludes its 2021-22 season with Beasts by Cayenne Douglass. Running from April 7-17, the play is directed by Kelly Galvin.

Rep Stage, the professional regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC) returns with live, in-person performances of Tennessee Williams’ production, “The Glass Menagerie,” directed by Producing Artistic Director Joseph W. Ritsch.

Sarasota Orchestra concludes several of its subscription series in the month of April with exceptional fanfare. The first weekend of the month begins with the long-awaited first Masterworks program of Bramwell Tovey's tenure as Music Director. In the subsequent weeks, the Orchestra offers a rousing conclusion to its Pops and Great Escapes series with programs showcasing the Great American Songbook and music depicting the Wild West. 

Tony Award-nominated and five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb has announced the complete line-up for the rescheduled 25th SUMMERWORKS festival of new plays. SUMMERWORKS will run May 20 – July 2, 2022 at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street) and will feature productions of three new plays.

Sheffield Theatres today announced the third director of the trilogy of new plays, Rock/Paper/Scissors by Chris Bush. Elin Schofield joins the previously announced Robert Hastie (Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres) and Anthony Lau (RTYDS Associate Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres) in the creative team.

Florida Repertory Theatre’s 2021-2022 Season continues the rock ‘n’ roll sensation, “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” by Alan Janes. The musical tells the story of Buddy’s rise to stardom and how he transformed popular music almost overnight and plays in the Historic Arcade Theatre from March 18 to April 13. The run includes four nearly sold-out previews from March 15 to 17.

Tickets are on-sale now for Centenary Stage Company’s World Premiere production of Whippoorwill by Ruth Kirschner. Performances will take place March 31 through April 10 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ on the campus of Centenary University.

Experimental Bitch has announced the hire of its newest bitch and creative producer, Ezra Brain. Brain will work in close collaboration with Artistic Director, Tatiana Baccari and Executive Director, Wednesday Derrico, to ensure the company creates, develops and produces genre-defying performance from emerging TGNC, queer and women artists.

Sideshow Theatre Company announced its 2022 season featuring the world premiere of Artistic Associate Brynne Frauenhoffer’s brash, incisive comedy Pro-Am, directed by Artistic Director Regina Victor, and a staged reading of Preston Choi's sci-fi post-apocalyptic dramedy Drive-In at the End of the World, directed by Artistic Associate Marti Lyons.

People's Light presents Hold These Truths, a solo play inspired by the true story of Gordon Hirabayashi, bringing back the entire team of the 2020 production that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Satan and God come back to earth in William Andrew Jones new play SATAN AND GOD which will have its World Premiere at Theatre Row in April. The limited engagement runs April 7 - 24 and features Zach Wegner as Satan and Jonathan Wong Frye as God. Jones also serves as director, produced by No Budget Productions.

By nature, musicals are vastly more popular than plays. They have a natural ability to engage an audience and if there are any lulls in the action, you have a high-flying musical number to bring the show back to life. A play has no safety nets. The actors must be dynamic and make genuine connections in order for thee beauty of a show to be felt.

The Studio Theatre is set to stage The Little Mermaid Jr. from Thursday, March 10 through Sunday, March 20, 2022. All Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances are scheduled for 7:30pm. Saturday and Sunday matinees begin at 2:30pm.
