Ghostlight Records has announced it will record a cast album of the new musical Alice By Heart. The show's current New York premiere production from MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) was recently extended through April 7. Alice By Heart has a book by Steven Sater and Jessie Nelson; music by Duncan Sheik, lyrics by Steven Sater, and direction by Jessie Nelson. Choreography is by Rick and Jeff Kuperman. The album - produced by Duncan Sheik and Kurt Deutsch, with Craig Balsam and Cody Lassen serving as executive producers - is being recorded March 24-25.

Ateneo Blue Repertory (blueREP), the premier musical theater organization at Ateneo de Manila University, closes its 27th season with the Tony Award-winning musical 'Spring Awakening,' based on the play of the same name by Frank Wedekind, with book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik.

As an Indonesian born theatre-lover, I remember seeing my first Broadway show, which was the Miss Saigon Revival. As a proud Asian myself, I could not believe that I was seeing the iconic helicopter scene from the mezzanine, after growing up singing 'I'd Give My Life for You' in my living room all the time. Beyond its theatrical elements, it was heartwarming to see someone like myself portrayed on a Broadway stage where people of varying cultures could witness a group of Asian performers shine on stage. As Broadway is starting to become more progressive in the realms of diversity and representation, here are some of the Asian actresses gracing the stage this year.

Award-winning Theatre Nebula opens a limited engagement run of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's musical, Spring Awakening at The Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E Wood St, Palatine, IL 60067, Saturday, March 2 through Sunday, March 24, 2019. Tickets are on sale now at theatrenebula.org or cuttinghall.org.  Advance tickets are $20 for Adults, $16 for Students and Seniors. If purchased at the door one hour prior to the performance, each ticket is $2 more. Atlantic Theater Company announces a one-week extension for the US premiere production of The Mother by Florian Zeller, translated by Christopher Hampton, and directed by Trip Cullman. The production, which opens on Monday, March 11th, will now play through Saturday, April 13th, 2019 Off-Broadway at the Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street).
