A new cross-disciplinary festival, Pangea's “Incubator Festival,” is about to launch in the East Village. See full programming and learn how to attend the festival!
STEVE HAYES: Tired Old Queen at the Movies is set for Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 pm ET at Guild Hall of The Episcopal Actors’ Guild, 1 E. 29th St. 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10016.
Celebrate the musical and comedy artistry of Robert Klein, Julie Gold, and more at the 39th Annual Bistro Awards Gala on April 1 at Gotham Comedy Club. Hosted by Steve Hayes, the event honors exceptional artists with performances and special awards.
Pangea, a vital incubator for new work crossing boundaries between theatre, music and elsewhere, welcomes back the American singer-comedian David Mills who emerges from a fruitful London exile (where he became a prominent comic voice) with a new Pangea residency starting with shows on Sat April 22 and 29, both at 9:30pm.
What do you get when you combine the pianistic finesse of Michael Feinstein, the smooth phrasing of Tony Bennett, and the bawdy wit of Bette Midler? You get Michael McAssey, who for 40 years has reigned as the clown prince of New York cabaret, and has enchanted as one of its most talented troubadours. He calls what he does 'schtick.' But that's undervaluing his unique blend of beautiful ballad singing and standup, or rather 'sit down' comedy.
The beloved East Village supper club Pangea, which came perilously close to closing during COVID, is announcing a mixture of ticketed and no-cover entertainment during the summer. The announcement comes as Pangea earns the prestigious Village Award, presented by Village Preservation at their 31st annual meeting on Wednesday June 16.
Between loyal local patrons, a Gofundme campaign, and the contributions of many Alt Cabaret stars, PANGEA is still hangin' in there after ten months of the global health crisis. Everyone is pitching in to do all they can to keep the beloved home of Alt Cabaret alive and well and living in the Lower East Side.
With the City demanding 2020 code upgrades that are beyond its reach financially, Pangea, which has helped countless artists freely develop work in a safe atmosphere of inclusion, experimentation and protest, finds itself in urgent need of life-saving support of its own.
The far-right Southern evangelical country singer Tammy Faye Starlite makes another pilgrimage to New York, this time to gift America with a new values-rich concert celebrating who we are at this most promising time in history.
