On May 11, Off-Broadway theater company The Civilians will host A Shining Light, an online benefit concert supporting the company and its artist community. The Civilians most recent production, Whisper House, was forced by the pandemic to shut down on the day of its first preview.
Written by Grammy and Tony winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening, American Psycho) and Tony-nominated and Obie winner Kyle Jarrow (Spongebob Squarepants, The Broadway Musical, The Wildness) and directed by The Civilians' Artistic Director Steve Cosson, Whisper House combines a lush original score with a haunting story of loss, love, and forgiveness.
Vineyard Theatre has announced that starting tomorrow, Friday, March 13 all performances of Dana H. will be suspended through March 31. The theatre will play to 50% capacity April 1 - 12. This is in accordance with guidelines from the CDC and state and local health officials' executive orders.

Prolific theatrical songwriter Micheal Friedman died at age 41 from AIDS related complications in 2017, leaving many bereft as the theater community recognized his vibrant creativity was snuffed out too soon. To preserve his legacy and work, Ghostlight Records is partnering with The Civilians to record nine albums of Friedman's previously unrecorded music for THE MICHAEL FRIEDMAN COLLECTION. This past October, the first trio of albums was released.
