Goodman Theatre begins the new year with a new music-and-movement-filled play: ANOTHER WORD FOR BEAUTY, a world premiere by Academy Award nominee Jose Rivera (The Motorcycle Diaries) inspired by an annual beauty pageant at El Buen Pastor womens prison in Colombia. ANOTHER WORD FOR BEAUTY runs now through February 21 in the Albert Theatre. Opening night is next Monday, January 25. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Brooklyn Academy of Music kicks off programming for its 2016 Winter/Spring Season today, January 16, running through June 12, and comprising theater, dance, music, opera and visual art events in the institution's three venues-the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, the BAM Harvey Theater, and the BAM Fisher.

Directed by Steve Cosson and featuring seven original songs by Grammy Award winner Hector Buitrago, the show was developed through a co-commission between the Goodman and Cosson's New York-based theater company The Civilians.

Curated by current Civilians R&D Group members Suzanne Agins and Benjamin Kamine with the support of the Civilians Field Research Team, Let Me Ascertain You: War On Christmas is a one- night-only performance, giving voice to diverse cultural and religious minorities in America focusing on their experiences with the commercialization of Christmas. The evening will feature original songs written by established and emerging musical theater talents, created from the company's interviews with real people.

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, theater producer Don Gregory, best known for his solo shows on Broadway, passed away yesterday, November 10th at the age of 80 at his home in Boca Raton, FL. According to his son, the cause of death was a stroke.

A meditation on America's relationship to our land, our resources, and ourselves, BabsonARTS will present ETHEL's Documerica, a multimedia concert that melds multiple screen video projections with original music by some of today's top composers and performed with electrifying virtuosity by the indie-classical quartet ETHEL,  tonight, October 23, 8 p.m. at Carling-Sorenson Theater 213 Forest Street at Babson College. Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists participating in its two Fall artist development programs: the Alumni Writers Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY, which ran October 4-11, as well as the two-week Theatre Lab for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), taking place November 8-22. Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the initiatives are among the 24 residency Labs the Institute hosts each year for independent artists in theatre, film, new media and episodic content.
