The Met has announced a specially-curated, three-week schedule for its Nightly Met Opera Streams, a free series of encore Live in HD presentations and classic telecasts streamed on the company website during the coronavirus closure. The schedule includes an All-Verdi week, a 20th-Century Classics week, and an All-French week.

Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen will perform a live concert on Saturday, August 29, at 7pm CET/1pm ET, from the royal Oscarshall Palace in Oslo, where the soprano sang after winning Norway's Queen Sonja Competition in 2015.

The Met's new pay-per-view recital series, Met Stars Live in Concert, continues with tenor Roberto Alagna and soprano Aleksandra Kurzak performing live outdoors from the Château de la Chèvre d'Or, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, in Èze, France.

The Met has announced the Week 15 schedule for its Nightly Met Opera Streams, a free series of encore Live in HD presentations streamed on the company website during the coronavirus closure. Highlights include the Met's classic 1991 telecast of Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore, with Kathleen Battle and Luciano Pavarotti, John Adams's Doctor Atomic starring Gerald Finley, and Massenet's Manon, with Lisette Oropesa in the title role. 

As part of The Metropolitan Opera's (Met Opera) urgent “The Voice Must Be Heard” fundraising campaign to support and protect the future of opera amid the COVID-19, more than 40 leading opera artists and members of the company's brilliant orchestra and chorus performed from their respective homes all around the world. The unprecedented virtual gathering of Met Opera's principal artists, ensemble, and orchestra, billed as At-Home Gala, was streamed live around the world in 162 countries on 25 April 2020, viewed by more than 750,000 global audience members.

In this year of pandemic, Opera Superintendent Alexander Pereira could not open his theater to its usual crowds, so he invited his artists to sing from their places of quarantine.

Now that the Metropolitan Opera has had a major success with its At-Home Gala, there are other opera companies with similar ideas. The Florence May Festival, (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino), will offer its presentation on Friday, May 1, 2020, at noon. P.D.T. Since many opera lovers are working from home, the audience should be enormous.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, artists were recorded alone or with people they know well.
