Theatre Bay Area, one of the largest regional performing arts service organizations in North America, has announced the finalists of the 2019 TBA Awards. The sixth-annual TBA Awards Celebration will take place on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco).
Broadway Unlocked founder Jessica Ryan announced today the seventh annual #giveback concert held Sunday, April 7, 2019 at The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space raised over $51,000 for the Crime Victims Treatment Center. The evening featured new and original work, including a host of debut songs inspired by the writings of survivors who have found help at CVTC. A multitude of artists contributed their talents across the event's digital content and concert cast.

Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced today that Melissa Benoist, who currently steals the screen in the title role of The CW's hit show, 'Supergirl', will make her Broadway debut as Carole King this summer in Broadway's hit, Beautiful-The Carole King Musical. Ms. Benoist will begin performances on June 7 and will play a limited run through August 4th, 2018.
Singers and musicians from the Black Broadway community will sing inspirational cover songs from their upcoming album: Darkness RISING. The concert benefits BLK HLTH, an organization which focuses on the wellness of the Black community. The concert will be held at The Triad NYC on Monday, April 2nd at 7pm. Loosely based on the 1957 memoir by renowned stripetease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, Gypsy follows the dreams and efforts of her mother, Rose, who raises two daughters to perform onstage and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. The idea to musicalize this story came about when producer David Merrick read a chapter of Lee's memoirs in Harper's Magazine. From there, he quickly got in touch with her in order to obtain the rights.
From November 14th-19th, North Carolina Theatre will be presenting one of great works of the American musical theatre, Gypsy at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. I recently had the great pleasure of stopping by rehearsal to interview actor, Sidney DuPont, who will be appearing in the production as Tulsa.
